Part A---General Information


1. Location

Sunnyside is in the northwest section of Florida, 20 miles west of Panama City,
and 83 miles east of Pensacola. It is on the Gilf of Mexico. The elevation
is 25 feet.

2. Transportation

U. S. Highway 98 passes through Sunnyside. Coastal Stages and Modern Trailways
provide bus service. Air and rail service is not available.

3. Population

Bay County had a population of 43,188 in 1945. Sunnyside is an unincorporated
town and its population figures are not reported.

4. Climate

(Based on U. S. Weather Bureau observations at Panama City for a 44-year period,

8, Recreational Facilities

Surf bathing in the Gulf of Mexico and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, Philips
Inlet, and many fresh water streams are the main entertainment. There is a
golf course at Lynn Haven, 30 miles from Sunnyside.

9. Hunting

Duck, squirrels and dove are found in this section. It is approximately two
miles to unposted hunting grounds. There are no hunting guides or hunting
lodges.

10. Fishing

Salt water pompano, whiting, mackerel, and snapper are caught in the Gulf of
Mexico. Salt water mullet and trout are caught in Powell Lake (Philips Inlet).
Fresh water trout and bream are caught in Pine Log Creek and many other creeks,
There are no fishing guides or fishing camps.

2. Tourist Courts


Sunnyside Beach Cottages, off-season rate $3.50 per day for two persons, $1 for
each additional person, European plan. Off-season is from October 1 to May 1,
In-season rates are $35 per week for one bedroom cottages that accommodate *wo
persons, to $65 per week for two bedroom cottages that accommodate 10 person,
In season the cottages are rented by the week only. It is about one and oln-half
miles to the nearest dining room facilities.
