Ormond is on the East Coast of Florida, six miles north'of Daytona Beach
and 49 miles south of Saint Augustine. It is on the Atlantic Ocean and
the Halifax River. The maximnu elevation is 30 feet.'....--. ..'.

2. Transportation:

U. S. Highway 1 and Florida Highray A-I-A pass through Ormond; The
Florida East Coast Railway provides rcil transportation. Bus transpor-,
tation is provided d by Greyhound Lines. Air trarspcrtPtion is not avail,
able from Ormond, but National Air Lines and Eastern Air Lines have
Regularly scheduled flights from Daytona Beach.

3. Population:

Volusia County had a population of 58,492 in 1945. The.population of
Ormond tas 1,721.

Connecticut, as a health resort for employees threatened with tuberculosis.
The original name of the town was New Britian. In 1880 the name was
changed to Ormond in bonor.of Captain James Ormond, an early settler.

Ormord work in Daytona Beach and other nearby towns.

Tennis courts, shuffleboard courts and nine-hole golf course at Hotel Ormond.

Hunting is very limited in this area.

A wide variety of salt water fish are caught in the Atlantic Ocean and the
Halifax River. Both fresh and salt water fish are caught in the Tomoka
River. There are no fishing guides or fishing camps here. Several charter
fishing-boats operate from Daytona Beach.

Union and Episcopal denominations have services in Ormond.'
