1. Location:

Lake Hamilton is in Central Florida, 41 miles southeast of Orlando and 46
miles east of Tampa. The town is on the shore of Lake Hamilton. The ele-
vation is 152 feet.

2. Transportation:

Florida Highway 17 passes through Lake Hamilton. The Atlantic Coast Line
Railroad provides rail service for Lake Hamilton. Bus service is provided
by the Greyhound Lines. Air service is not available.

3. Population:


Polk County had a population of 112,429 in 1945.
Hamilton was 347.

Fresh water trout, bass, and catfish are caught in Lake Pierce, Lake
Hamilton, Lake Gordon, and Lake Crystal. There are no fishing camps or
fishing guides available. Rowboats can be rented at Lake Pierce for 250
per hour.
