Part A---General Information


1. Location:

Keystone Heights is in northeast Florida, 50 miles southwest of Jacksonville,
26 miles northeast of Gainesville, and 27 miles northwest of Palatka. The
town is on Lake.Geneva. The elevation is 150 feet.

2. Transportation:

Florida Highways 100 and 21 pass through Keystone Heights. The Georgia
Southern and Florida Railroad provides rail service. Bus service is provided
.by Greyhound Lines. Air service is not available.

3. Population:


Clay County had a population of 10,038 in 1945.
Heights was approximately 500.

4. Climate:

8. Recreational Facilities:

City Park has shuffleboard and tennis courts. There is no admission charged.
Keystone Beach has a pavilion, pier, picnic tables, bathhouses, out-door
cooking facilities. Keystone Heights Golf Club is open to the public upon
payment of greens fees or a yearly membership fee of $25.

9. Hunting:

Quail, duck, fox, squirrels, and dove are found in this section. There are
unposted hunting grounds adjacent to the city limits Hunting lodges and
hunting guides are not available.

10. Fishing:

Fresh water bass, speckled perch, and bream are caught in Lake Geneva, Santa
Fe Lake, Brooklyn Lake, and many other smaller lakes nearby. Baker's Camp,
a fishing camp on Lake Geneva, has a restaurant, groceries, boats for rent,
and bait for sale. Rowboats can be rented at Keystone Beach.

Keystone Heights has a non-denominational community church.

1. Hotels:

Keystone Inn, 24 rooms, American plan.

2. Tourist Courts:

Williams Tourist Court, one-half mile from town on Florida Highway 100 has
rooms, cottages, and trailer space for overnight or weekly guests. There is
'a restaurant approximately one-fourth mile from the court.

3. Guest Homes:

Rooms are available in private homes in town.

4. Trailer Parks:


Williams Tourist Court,.one-half mile from town on Florida
