ESTATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES OFFICE OF REVENUE MANAGEMENT STATISTICAL REPORTING SECTION ANNUAL STATISTICAL REPORT FISCAL YEAR 1980-81 1 RL 0 * 1. STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF Bob Graham, Governor Health & Rehabilitative Services 1317 WINEWOOD BOULEVARD TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA 32301 ANNUAL STATISTICAL REPORT JULY 1, 1980 JUNE 30, 1981 The Annual Statistical Report has been published each year since 1967 to provide statistical data on the expenditures of public welfare funds. In fiscal year 1981, expenditures for direct assistance were $512,647,077, up 16.3% from 1980; medical assistance costs increased 25.9%, to $511,404,987 and food stamps valued at $495,717,162 were issued. As in prior years, data published in this book has been accumulated from records of financial expenditures. Services are therefore recorded as being provided at the times payments for them are made, rather than at the time they actually were provided. In most cases the flow of expenditures closely mirrors the flow of services; however, at times prepayments or billing delays can cause the data to give a distorted picture. Expenditures are reported in gross figures, not allow- ing for cancellations and refunds. All figures have been rounded to the nearest dollar. "Recipients" shown on medical services charts are the numbers of individuals who received a particular medical service at least once during any given month. The same individual is counted only once during any month, but may be counted again in other months. The unduplicated total figure shown eliminates the duplication between months and counts each individual only once during the year. The undup- licated total figure is based on this unduplicated annual total. This report does not purport to document all activity of the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. Its content is limited to statistical data collected by the Statistical Reporting Section in fulfilling its reporting functions.
