DEGREE COURSE IN LIBRARIANSHIP OCTOBER, 1972
The University of the West Indies invites applicants for admis-
sion to a full-time three-year degree course in Librarianship at the
Mona Campus in October, 1972. The course will cover work in Li-
brarianship beyond the level of the A.L.A. in the Great Britain, as
well as work in non-Library subjects.
The course leading to a B.A. degree in Librarianship is of three
Candidates for admission must satisfy the Normal University
Matriculation Requirements, that is, they must possess at least 2
'A' level and 3 '0' level G.C-E. passes or possess qualifications ac-
cepted as equivalent to those as outlined in the University's regula-
tions. For this purpose applicants may have their qualifications
assessed by the Matriculation Board of the University and it is
worth noting that holders of the First Professional examination
, have been assessed as satisfying the regulations.
The composite Tuition and Examination Fee will be E.C. $144.-
00 per annum for students from Antigua, Barbados, Dominica,
Grenada, Montserrat and St. Lucia.
Other Costs: Living Expenses, Books etc..
Other costs are the same as for the degree in Arts and General
Studies. Details are obtainable from the Assistant Registrar, Stud-
ent Affairs, (Admissions) on request.
Closing Date for Applicants
The closing date for applications will be July 15.
Applicants will be eligible for a limited number of scholar-
ships (at least 10) being awarded through the assistance of UNES-
CO as well as for a Special University Scholarship, and scholar-
ships being awarded under the Canadian Aid programmne to the
non-independent Caribbean Territories.
Scholarship awards will be based on the results of the Univer-
sity's Scholarship Examination held in March, 1972, where this has
been taken, or other available examination performances and on
the recommendations of the Governments.
