Studying Explorers

Intended Grade: 4th

Subject Areas: Florida History

Sunshine State Standards: SS.A.6.3

Objectives: Students understand the history of Florida and its people.

Approximate Time Required: 2 lessons

Materials Required:
Computer
Graphic Organizer
Map of departure and destination spots. You must create yourself.
Map pencils
Paper
Pictures of explorers

Instructions:
1. Fill in the graphic organizer provided by your teacher with the required
information.
2. Create a timeline using information gathered on your chart. Please provide a
picture of each explorer on the timeline.
3. Create one map showing the routes of each explorer, including places of
departure and destination. Your map should include a title, a map key, country
and territory names, and should be easily read by others.
