Forecasts are for 1 month in advance unless otherwise indicated.

Rust Mite: 62% of groves infested (Norm 64%); 40% economic (Norm 45%).
Population is in the moderate range and near normal for January. Infestations are
similar on leaves and on fruit. Little change is expected. Highest districts are
South (1.96) West (1.80) and North (1.21).

Texas Citrus Mite: 28% of groves infested (Norm 32%); 14% economic (Norm 12%).
Population is in the low range and near normal with little change expected. Very
few infestations will be important. Highest districts are West (.60) and Central (.57).

Citrus Red Mite: 31% of groves infested (Norm 36%); 7% economic (Norm 12%).
Population is presently at low level and slightly below the normal for January.
Although some increase is expected, less than 5% of groves will have heavy infestations.
Highest districts are East (.70) and Central (.50).

Glover Scale: 62% of groves infested (Norm 78%); 5% economic (Norm 15%).
Purple Scale: 53% of groves infested (Norm 77%); less than 1% economic (Norm 7%).
Black Scale: 29% of groves infested (Norm 37%); 7% economic (Norm 17%).
Yellow Scale: 59% of groves infested (Norm 60%); 2% economic (Norm 11%).
Chaff Scale: 44% of groves infested (Norm 59%); 1% economic (Norm 9%).
Populations of the above scales are all below normal levels for January and all
are in the low to moderate range in all districts. Few, if any infestations are heavy
at this time and little change is expected.

Snow scale is present in 16% of groves and is important in 5%. Increase is expected.

Whiteflies, mealybug, aphids and six-spotted mites are near or below the very low levels
normal for January. Very little change will occur in February but increase is expected
in March.

Spray Notes: The delayed dormant spray of copper or ferbam for scab control should be
completed before new growth is advanced.
The 1969 Florida Citrus Spray and Dust Schedule is now available from the Florida
Citrus Commission, Lakeland, and from county agents.
