The 1984 Senior Class is a cre-
ative bunch of: people. Hanging
out with friends at local busin-
esses, as well as around school,
helped to fill in the spare mo-
ments. Of course sleeping in
class and writing on walls was
fun too. And a school year
wouldn't be complete without a
little bit of hard work and lots of
confusion. But there were al-
ways lots of: smiles to help
through the tough times.

1984

1984 is wvell upon us. It was
the last year at P.K. for many,
and the first for many too. In
the year, we still have yet to
see many events and histori-
cal markers. The 1984 Presi-
dential Elections wvill be upon
us soon as wvell as the Sum-
mer Olympic Games of 1984.
P.K. will have a birthday -
its 50~th anniversary, and ve
will have to see if: Big Brother
is watching.

1983-41 could be considered "the year of the vid-
co." All across the nation people were demanding
their MTV', and television, movies, and rock stars
were big. They influenced and effected our lives in
big ways from the way we dress to the way we eat
and even how we talk.
\Ve wvere invited to talk wvith Joan Rivers, beat it
with Michael Jackson, and trade places wvith Eddie
Murphy.
Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, David Bowie, Journey,
Genesis, The Police, ZZ Top, The Fiu, Culture Club.
U2, The Eurythmics, along with many others were
big names in the music industry.
There were several big movies this year. Some
with the same familiar old faces and many with
Fresh new faces. Some of the films were raving
successes, ot hers flops, a nd a few were good, howev-
er they had limited engagement. Among the biggies
were Return of the jedi, Terms of Endearment,
Risky Business, Flashdan~eTeBgCilYnd
ALll the Right Moves, The Right Stuff, and Silk-
wvoodl.
On TL' we saw the end of a great series -
"M*A*S*H ', with the quickest return of a sequel
series "A4fter M*~A*S*H". "Cheers," "The A
Team." and "Hill Street Blues" remained among the
top shows, and the mini series wvas popular. Many
movies on controversial subject were broadcast.
Among them was "The Day After" a movie on the
effects of a nuclear war.

The tradition of student government at
P.K. Yonge is a tradition of student involve-
ment and responsibility in all levels of
school life. In past years a student represen-
tative has attended faculty meetings, and
voted there. Student representatives have
also met wvith parent groups and other stu-
dent groups.
Those involved with student government
have learned to become effective advocates.
They learned the difficulties of meeting the
needs of a community as diverse as a K-12
school. According to Dr. Baldwin, student
government advisor, "Student government
has had an impact on everything from cur-
riculum to coordinating club activities."
The strength of the tradition is based on
hard work, and an understanding of the
responsibilities of elected positions.

OFf'icers are: President Bobby
Ford, Vice President Craig
Nobles, Secretary Anedra

You know, it's really hard to
write about the surf club. It's
hard to capture the essence of
what we do in words. We do
alot. We have a lot of goals.
Endless Summer. We love
rock-n-roll. We love being
tan. We love being young. We
love P.K. Yonge What else,
We love ourselves. That s
healthy, isn't it?

Fighter, and Marathon. Mol-
les with computer graphics,
such as Tron and Star Wars
are viewed. As members of
the club students get personal
accounts for the University of
Florida Vax B. Through this
computer members get a
chance to learn other lan-
guages.

The purpose of the Interact
Club is to help the school and
the community. Interact was
just started this past fall.
Meetings are held every two
weeks, on Thursdays.

Any P.K. Yonge student in
grades 9-12 may become a
member. Members must

ABOUT OUR CLUBS ..

"There s only one thing I like
more than computing,'' says
Computer Club member
Sandy Tankerslv, "And I
can't remember what that is
right now."

Like other clubs at P.K.
Yonge,, Computer Club is or-
ganized for learning. Students
not only learn new ideas, they
get a chance to polish skills.
As far as clubs go, Computer
Club is on the cutting edge.

People bring their own com-
puters to show others or bor-
row TRS-830 color computers
for their own use. Other at-
tractions for members are
chances to play games like
Eliminator, Galaxy, Cosmic
