MIDDLE SCHOOL

Few things are going well
Rising anger flairs inside
Urges to destruct things
*, Start to pop up in the fire.
Tantalizing objects
Receive aggressive thinking
A kick would help things out
Though the mind controls desire
If action does take place
Other problems will appear.
Never make actions first
Stop flames from getting higher.

LOOKING BACK
There is no single day or time
within the life
I've so far lived
that I'd have changed or altered
Possibly there are some days
I could have missed
and never missed,
but I suspect that I could not
have come down to this place
a different way.
As I suspect that being here
I don't as yet know where I am.

Friend,
Are you going so soon?
Why you haven't even said hello
Sit down beside me
Let me warm my hands by
The fire in your eyes.
I care for you
I'm not alone with you
Forever is a long time
To go away.
Why not stay
There's always a way.

Nature's harmony
The ocean, in all her dignity,
sleeps,
Protected by the blanket of the
heavens.
As the brilliance of light
Breaks the darkness,
The ocean wakes and
beautifies the world.
And to my eyes
I see
The light reflects her as she
does him and together
They harmonize in perfect peace.

THE BALLAD OF NEIL MATHEWS

There once was a guy named Matthews,
He's crazy as hell you see,
Never does his homework,
But somehow gets a B.

One day he got so bored,
Nothing to do at all,
So he called on his resources,
And used his immitigable gall.

He went to his teacher's house
Like a stupid fool;
He peeked into her window,
And then began to drool.

Out came her husband,
With his gun and knife,
Chased after Matthews,
Who was running for his life.

He ran to his Pinto,
And took off fast as sin.
You can bet that old Neil Matthews,
Won't be back again.

*To the tune of Wabash Cannon Ball

SLUMBERING TITANS
Somewhere, there is a night of trees,
Of giant warriors aging fast.
Knarled limbs and twisted bodies;
No more weapons to be held, or battles to be won.
Only quiet stirs the air,
But does not wake the slumbering Titans,
Who lost to a more formidable enemy.
Sleep on, and dream of happy days
Of past and yet to come.
Too old to remember things of importance, but age
Does not take the sting from Memory
Who scorns you with doubtful eyes.
Too late for wishes or worthless hopes,
Stiffened in your form and bound to
Subterranean chains, the image lingers
The glossy dress has fallen to the earth
Leaving the dry and callused arms
To reach at distant haunting things,
Which crouch down below.
Yes, somewhere there is a night of
Trees who shall never see the day,
For time has left them falling,
Falling into emptiness.

20's Night

Once again, seniors (and teachers) held their
annual Gala Soiree. The Twenties became
reality in the seventies. Strains of the Black
Bottom and the Charleston were heard
emanating from Tisha Allen's house. The
flappers and the lounge lizards were just the
bee's knees.

An institution new to me
And I feel like I've
Come into a whole new concept
of thinking
And it's very nice here
For I am accepted for what I am
And that makes me glad.
I have found friends and smiles
And very many happy times,
And like the river of life
I go on through this year,
Anticipating the future like
the fall,
and winter
and spring .
Then summer and I feel joyed
Yet saddened,
For in a few months
I will be leaving this
Celebrated environment
And my friends,
And needing to keep in touch.
Please ..
keep in touch.

The sea is not always smooth -
turbulence can be jagged
Like the cliffs that rise above it,
but you know my friend,
The cliffs are jagged
because the sea
cannot reach them,
cannot touch them
The pebbles that fall
from the cliff
roll up smooth on the shore
because they have been touched -
It is funny, is it not?
But it fits like a puzzle -
that the turbulence,
the truth,
experience,
sometimes painful wildness
of untamed being ..
Makes you smooth ..
