GRASS GROWTH REGULATOR STUDY --

Conversations with industry personnel indicated Eptar 10G (EPTC) demonstrated
growth regulating properties on grasses in experiments in the spring of 1981 in
Florida. A replicated study was conducted to determine if Eptan, formulated as a

10% granule, would reduce the growth and seed stalk development of common bahiagrass.
The test area was mnowed to a height of 3 inches on August 13, 1981. Treatments
of 5 and 8 lb. active ingredient per acre with and without 0.5 inches of water

applied just after treatment application were applied on August 15, 1961.

Information on the experimental methods and conditions is given in Table 1.

Results and Discussion
Doth Eptam rates significantly reduced grass height after % days, but had no
significant effect on either grass height or number of seed stalks produced after

15 and 22 days (Table 2). There were no significant differences in growth among

the Eptar treatments in the first week. The addition of water after application
of Eptam 10G did not affect results.
Lack of significance in grass height in the second and third weeks may be
associated with having 2 replicates. An increase in the number of replicates
would increase the sensitivity of the test.
