DeLand Public Library
Organized in 1912, the DeLand Public Library
association maintained a library in a room in the Stewart,
Bldg. until 1918, when it was transferred by ordinance to
the municipality.. It then bedame the DeLand.Free.Puotoli
Library, later moving to the Chamber of Comoeroe Bids. in
1022, then t^ its present location at 4419 New York Ave.
This is 4 blocks ela.t of the Four .orners. Tnal last '
.iove was mnjde in 1932, whon the present building was given
the olty by.aeward Baker. In recognition of this, it
was designated as a memorial in his name, The library con-
tains 13,000 volumes and sucr-ibcs to numerous periodicals
and newspapers.o reference department of more than 2,000D
volumes and 649 volumes of bound periodicals are available.
Facilities are free .to tax-paycrs and residents, while
visitors and temporaryy residents may secure oards for 31.00 -
per year. Hours are daily except Suudays and holidays' 10-
12 A.U. and 2-0 P.L.
