1969 CLIrATOLOGICAL REPORT

T. '!. Casselman -

This report summarizes the weather data collected on the Everglades Experi-
ment Station during the calendar year 1969. Daily temperatures and rainfall
observations are tabulated on pages 2 through 7. Cumulative rainfall data com-
paring 1969 to the 46-year average are on page 8. monthlyy evaporation and rela-
tive humidity data are tabulated on page 9. A 46-year summary (1924-1969) appears
on page 10.

All observations are made at 8 a.m. each day and cover the previous 24-hour
period. For example, on January 6 at 8 a.m. maximum and minimum temperatures of
590F and 520F, respectively, and a rainfall of 1.14 inches were recorded. This
means that these temperatures were reached sometime during the 24-hour period
from 8 a.m. January 5 to 8 a.m. January 6. The rain fell at some time during this
same period.

Rainfall. Total rainfall for 1969 was 75.87 inches as compared to the 46-
year average of 57.85 inches. This was another "wet" year. All months except
February and June were above average. About 70% of the total rainfall fell during
the months of archh through August.

Relative Humidity. Mean maximum relative humidity by months varied between
99% and 97%; mean minimum between 62% and 49%.

Temperature. Temperatures of 40 F or lower were recorded on January 8;
Feb. 20, 26, 27; March 14; November 16; and December 1, 15, 23, 27, 28. Average
spring and summer monthly temperatures were about normal to slightly higher than
the 46-year average. February and March were cooler than the 46-year average by
4F and 30F, respectively; November and December by 2oF and 4 F, respectively.

Hurricanes. Hurricanes did not affect this area this year.
