CLIMATOLOGICAL REPORT, 1960

Summary

The report contained in the following ten pages is a summary of the weather
data collected at the3 Everglades Station for the calendar year 1960. Daily
temperatures and rainfall records are listed for each month on pages 2 7.
Evaporation and relative humidity are tabulated on page 8. A thirty-seven year
summary (1924-1960 incl..) of weather data, including extremes is listed on page
9. A graphic illustration of temperatures and rainfall for 1960 in comparison
with the average is shown on page 10 .

Rainall:Total rainfall for the year was 69.50 inches. This was 10.75
inches above the 37-yrear average. During September 19.50 inches were recorded.
This exceeded the rainfall for any previous September by 0.22 inebes. The
months of July through September totaled 12.15 inches which is 16.31 inches
above the average for these three months. Rainfall during these months was
61a# of the annual total for 1960 and 7246 of the average total annual rainfall.
February and bkgr were also above average in total rainfall. The lowest
monthly rainfall was January with 0.11 inches. Greatest 24-hour rainfall vae
3.68 inches recorded on September 10. This rain accompanied Rurricane Donna
the center of which did not pass over this Station.

Relative Busidity: Mean maximum relative humidity was 98 and 990 for all
months except February, March and April. During these months the mean maximumm
relative humidity was 96 and 97qd. Mean minimum relative humidity was 370 for
January and 640~ for September; the rest of the year the monthly mean minimum
relative humidity varied from 48 to 594.,

Temperature: Milnimum temperature dropped below 40oF. on five days during
January. Two were freezing or below, namely, January 23 and 24 with temperatures
of320 and 27 F., respectively. Ehere were three day~ dring February and
five days in March when the minivans temperature was 40" or lower but during
those two months no freezing temperatures occurred. Also, during December there
were six days when temperatures of 400 or less were recorded with light frost
on the 17th. December temperatures averaged 610 F., the lowest of any month
during the year.
