1975 CLIMATOLOGICAL REPORT
C. R. Wilcoxen and R. J. Allen, Jr.-

"This report summarizes the weather data collected on the Agricultural Research
and Education Center at Belle Glade during the calendar year 1975. Daily temper-
ature and rainfall observations are tabulated on pages 2 through 7. Cumulative
rainfall data comparing 1975 to the 52-year average are on page 8. Monthly
evaporation and relative humidity data are tabulated on page 10. A 52-year
summary (1924-1975) appears on page 11.

All observations are made at 8 a.m. each day and cover the previous 24-hour
period. For example, on January 14 at 8 a.m. maximum and minimum temperatures of
800F and 370F, respectively, and a rainfall of 0.03 inches were recorded. This
means that these temperatures were reached sometime during the 24-hour period
from 8 a.m. January 13 to 8 a.m. January 14. The rainfall likewise occurred at
sometime during this same period.

Rainfall: Total for 1975 was 49.06 inches as compared to the 52-year average
of 57.49 inches. All months except May, July, and October s icit rainfall
compared to the 52-year average. July was the wettest month hiHIt f ,
an excess of 5.35 above average. January was the driest moh w '!Yall.
inch recorded, setting a new low for January. The year fin shed with a de ici b
8.33 inches.
APR 16 197
Relative Humidity: Monthly maximum averages were 100 and minimum averages
varied between 57% and 42%. -
.F.A.S.
Temperature: Forty degrees F or lower were recorded on F r
November 15 and 24; and December 11, 22 and 23. July, August and December l
temperatures equal to the 52-year average. All other months had temperatures of
10 to 60F higher than the 52-year average.

Frost: This area was not affected by frost this year.

Hurricanes: This area was not affected by hurricanes this year.

Solar Radiation: Solar radiation has been recorded at this station since
April 1971, using an Eppley model 8-48 Pyranometer and a Leeds-Northrup Speedomax
H model S Recorder with a Disc Instruemnts, Inc. model 207, Series D Chart
Integrator. The record has been continuous except for February and March, 1954,
When the pyranometer was out for repair. Average daily Langley Units (cal/cm /
min) for each month are shown in the table on page 13. Incoming solar energy
dropped each year from 1971 through 1974, but increased in 1975.
