Introduction

Welcome to the Agricultural Research and Education Center at Bradenton.
The program today will begin with a tour of some of the research areas to
illustrate the current programs with caladiums. During the tour we welcome
questions and will answer them in part by showing you examples in the field
plots. Descriptions of the research areas and the variables of each
experiment are located in this research report. After the tour is over,
there will be an informal discussion period in the pavilion to determine
research needs for the maximum production and utilization of caladiums.
The discussions can continue through the lunch break where individual
questions will be addressed and answered.

The tour will progress through the following areas:

2. New caladium seedlings (Plant Production House)
3. Fumigation treatments (Row 1, C-32)

Experiment: -Effect of Fumigation on Caladium Production

Purpose: To compare tuber production of caladiums grown in fumigated
peat or fumigated sandy soils. Fumigant was Methyl Bromide
(67%)/Chlorpicrin (37%) @ 350 lb./A.
