RE: Mr. Stubbs' Opening Remarks at the 1-18-83
Inverness Meeting on Lake Level Adoption

Mr. Stubbs introduced himself, told that he was a member of the
Governing Board, where he was from and that he was a member of
the Withlacoochee River Basin Board. He explained that there
would be a series of meetings in the process of adopting
regulatory levels. He then gave the name of the lakes being
considered at this time. He explained that the District would
not keep the lakes at the levels, that nature plays an important
part in the level of the lake-meaning that the District will not
always be able to control the level of the lake. Mr. Stubbs
further explained that lake levels are good when used the right
way e.g., information for counties, local governments, etc.,
for zoning purposes, etc., and information for new home builders
as to what they can expect to happen to their property border-
ing the lake. He then explained that the staff present would
conduct the meeting. At a future time a date will be set for a
public hearing for formal testimony to be taken by ac hearing)
Officer. Thehearing officerfwill submit a recommended order to
"-theGovening Board and they will take formal action.
