Board of Governors Pose Twelve


system in the amount of $23,743. The total cost of the equipment as
listed includes the installation of a 100 ft. microwave tower at the
District Headquarters site and the installation of a microwave grid on
the tower at Snow Hill, as well as equipment installation. Funds are
available in the budget for this purchase. Mr. Gates stated that the
recommended system has a 24 channel capability, however, to begin with
it is proposed to set up only one transmission channel and one maintenance
channel. It should be noted that there will be a slight increase in the
rental charge for the Rosier tower at Snow Hill from $50 to $55 per
month. Motion was made by Mr. Johns that the staff recommendation for
purchase of the 2 Ghz microwave system be approved including authorization
for lease of the Rosier tower at Snow Hill in the amount of $55 per
month. Motion seconded by Mr. Van der Veer and unanimously passed.
With regard to agenda items 80, U. S. Geological Survey Annual Summary
Report, and 8E, chloride sampling program, Mr. Feaster suggested that
these items be postponed at this time as they do not require Board
action. There was no objection.
Public Hearing Schedule Lake Levels
Mr. Feaster reported that with the passage of lake level rules and
regulations by the Board at the May 2nd meeting the staff is now ready
to begin holding the necessary public hearings to set lake levels. It
<^ was recommended that dates be set for hearings in the Northwest Hillsborough
and Alafia Basins as follows: Northwest Hillsborough Basin Sweetwater
Creek Watershed September 21, Rocky Creek Watershed October 19, and
Brooker Creek and Anclote Watershed November 16; Alafia Basin December
21. It was further recommended that Mr. Martinez be appointed as Hearing
Officer to conduct the hearings in these basins. In connection with
these hearings, Mr. Martinez suggested that an informational meeting be
scheduled prior to the actual hearings for setting levels in order to
"obtain public input and comments on the general lake level situation.
The suggested meeting date was August 17. Chairman McAteer suggested
"N t that Governing Board Members, particularly those from Peace Basin, might
A wish to be in attendance at this meeting as observers. It was also
suggested that the staff meet with Hillsborough County Commissioners and
< any other interested agencies prior to this August meeting to answer
^ their questions ahead of time and thereby allow more time at the meeting
Sfor public comment. After a full discussion motion was made by Mr
Hilns that Mr.anMartinea be appointed as Hearing Officer for the Northwest
Hilsboog ad Basin lake level hearings and that the hearing

approved. Motion seconded by Mr. Lambert and unanimously carried.
