to Water Management District
Boards

...for TALLAHASSEE -- Governor Jeb Bush today announced his
Immediate appointments to the state's water management districts,
selecting applicants who share his vision of fiscal

management districts in Florida that is based on the following

"Water management district board members serve an
important stewardship role in the implementation of water
policy. The challenge of balancing the protection of Florida's
natural resources with property rights has never been tougher.
My vision is that the water management districts will serve as
contemplative bodies that balance flood control, water
capacity and supply, and sustaining our natural resources,"
Governor Bush said.

The Governor has asked that each appointee provide greater
accountability through a fiscally responsible approach that
will earn the confidence of Florida's taxpayers. This will
require prioritization and focus on the goals of the boards,
their mission, and their role.

Governor Bush has also asked that all appointees serve as
objective stewards of Florida's natural resources, not biased
or prejudiced by special interests. He has considered his
appointments in conjunction with the remaining board
members in order to create a water management leadership
that collectively shares his goals for balancing the rights of
Floridians with our natural resources.
