Listed below is a synopsis of comments by interests which
appeared at the January 9 meeting in Ft. Lauderdale:

Mike Garretson Gulfstream Land Co. "Duplication and
multiplicity hard to avoid -- Environmental groups like
multiplicity of agencies. Should have one agency/one
reviewer handling review for DRI's".

Al Malafatto Attorney Discussed problems of conflicts
with DER and DNR on beach restoration projects.

Sam Shevin Palm Beach County Asst. Administrator -
questioned whether Regional Planning Councils are acting
outside of legislative authority in review of DRI's.

Cliff Schulman Attorney Recommends one stop permitting
one reviewer stop "ping pong" from agency to agency.

Jack Osterholt South Florida Regional Planning Council -
Advised that DRI review be limited by Chapter 380.

Tony Clemente Dade Dept. of Environmental Resource Mgmt. -
Would like to have septic tank program at option of each
county rather than HRS mandated.

Bob Mikes Sierra Club Permits issued on basis of
political contributions.

Charles Lee Audubon Society "Need checks and balances to
avoid buy out".
Ed Markus Broward Environmental Coalition No notice to
environmental groups to let them prepare for hearing.

Roy Rogers Disney/Arvida/Weston no real complaints.

Other Appearances: Juan Menendez and Wally Livingston of
Dade County Public Health Unit.

Also, attached is a digest of reports to the Environmental
Efficiency Study Commission compiled by Laura Allen.
