TOW ALAFIA RIVER BASIN BOARD MEMBERS

RES Governing Board Action on the Basin Board Concept
and the Tentative Budget and MiBages


On July 11, following extensive public testimony and discussion, the
Governing Board voted to retain the existing Bain Board structure. As you
are aware, the Governing Board was required to approve tentative Basn-
Board and District mnilages at the July 11 aneeting in order to neet the
required Truth in MIlTage (TRIM) deadlines. Followlg a presentation by
Executive Director Gary Kohl and Imagthy di suss.1 the Governing Board
approved Basin Board Ulllages4 which reflect a redistr tion of funding
respinblilities for both the Basins and the District and in accordance with
oe Basin responsiblites outlined in Section 373.0695, Floida Statutes.
"This resulted in a reduction of Basn Board mlllages and an increase in the
District mnllage.

The Alaia River 'Basin Board mUllage was reduced from .25 to ,10. The
District mIniage of .21, an increase from the proposed .14, was approved to
cover the 'majority of projects originally included in the Basin Boards'
budget.

These changes will be reviewed with you at your next meeting.
