SOUTHWEST FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT


IN RE:

DECLARATION OF WATER SHORTAGE )
WITHIN PARTS OF PASCO, PINELLAS ) ORDER NO. 73-1D
AND HILLSBOROUGH COUNTIES )


This matter, having come before the Board of Governors of the Southwest

Florida Water Management District at a public meeting duly and properly held

before the Board on July 11, 1973, and the Board having reviewed and carefully

considered the reports of staff members and having heard testimony presented

at said meeting,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DECLARED by the Board of Governors of the Southwest

Florida Water Management District that it does find and declare that a water

shortage exists within that part of the District described as the south three

miles of Pasco County and the north eight miles of Pinellas and Hillsborough

Counties lying between State Road 55 (U.S. 19) and State Road 45 (U.S. 41),

in that insufficient ground and surface water is available to meet the needs

of the users.

Such declaration is issued pursuant to Section 378.152, Florida Statutes,

as amended (Chapter 72-730, Laws of Florida, as amended) and publication of

this notice shall serve as notice to all users in the area of the condition of

water shortage and that pursuant to law the Governing Board may impose such

restrictions on one or more users of the water resource as may be necessary to

protect the water resources of the area from serious harm.

All users of the water resources of this area, including those persons

served by public water supplies operated by the Pinellas County Water System

and the City of St. Petersburg Water System, together with the users located

within the area described, are urgently requested to reduce consumption of

water to the greatest extent possible.

Notice is further given that the Governing Board of the Southwest Florida

Water Management District will hold hearings to consider staff reports and

other testimony offered at each of its regular meetings and at any special

meetings called for such purpose so long as the water shortage exists within










the area described. Notice is further given that the Board holds regularly

scheduled meetings commencing at 9:30 A.M. on the second Wednesday of each

month at its official headquarters on U.S. 41 located approximately seven

miles south of Brooksville at which times the Governing Board of Southwest

Florida Water Management District will consider the matter of water shortage

in the area and take such actions and impose such restrictions as may be

deemed necessary. Every reasonable effort will be made to give notice of

any special meeting to all persons who file written request for same with

the District.
