RE: Order on the Sprinkling Ban


Here are all the orders relating to the water shortage measures.

Please also review this memorandum of understanding which I
would like to discuss with you within the next day or so.

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT


IN RE:

SPRAY IRRIGATION WITHIN WATER ) ;
SHORTAGE AREA IN PARTS OF PASCO, )
PINELLAS AND HILLSBOROUGH ) ORDER 73-3D
COUNTIES, FLORIDA )


WHEREAS the Board of Governors of Southwest Florida Water Management

District did on July 11, 1973 by Order No. 73-10D declare that a water short-

age exists within that part of the District described as the south three

miles of Pasco County and the north eight miles of Pinellas and Hillsborough

Counties lying between State Road 55 (U.S. 19) and State Road 45 (U.S. 41),

and

WHEREAS notice of water shortage and notice of hearings has been duly

published as required by law, and

WHEREAS such Board, at a public hearing duly and-,properly held before

it at its regular meeting on August 8, 1973, has heard.reports from its staff

and taken testimony from others present relating to the conditions as they

presently exist within the water shortage area,

UPON CONSIDERATION the Board finds as follows,

1. That a water shortage continues to exist within that part of the

District described as the south three miles of Pasco County and the north

eight miles of Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties lying between State Road

55 (U.S. 19) and State Road 45 (U.S. 41).

2. That irrigation within such water shortage area by means of overhead

or spray-type irrigation between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. results
in unnecessary waste of water due to evaporation losses which are accelerated

during such periods of the day.


IT IS, THEREUPON, ORDERED AS FOLLOWS:

1. No person, firm or corporation shall irrigate within a water shortage

area which exists within that part of the Southwest Florida Water Management

District described as the south three miles of Pasco County and the north eight









miles of Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties lying between State Road 55 (U.S.

19) and State Road 45 (U.S. 41), by means of overhead or spray irrigation between

the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Violation of this Order shall be punish-

able as provided by law.

2. Adoption of this rule is necessary for immediate preservation of the

public health, safety and general welfare.

DONE and ORDERED this eighth day of August, 1973.
