ordinance banning irrigation, adopted by the Board of Commissioners
of Hillsborough County today. It will become effective when certi-
fied and mailed -- perhaps tomorrow

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY RELATING TO
IRRIGATION AND LAWN SPRINKLING IN THE UNINCORPORATED AREAS
OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY; PROHIBITING SUCH USES BETWoAEEN THE
HOURS OF 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. DAILY UNTIL JULY 1, 1975;
PROVIDING AN- EXEMPTION FOR COMMERCIAL AGRICULTURAL IRRIGATION;
PROVIDING PENALTIES; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Hills-
borough County finds that an emergency exists as the result
of extraordinary demand upon ground water resources of Hills-
borough County by its consumers during a period of extremely
dry weather in which the rainfall is substantially less than
the annual average and it is necessary to protect the ground
water resources of the County by prohibiting irrigation and
lawn sprinkling during the daytime hours; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLORIDA, .
1. All persons in the unincorporated areas of
Hillsborough County are prohibited from using water for
lawn sprinkling and irrigation purposes between the hours
of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. daily from the effective date
of this ordinance until July 1, 1975.
2. This ordinance does not apply to persons engaged
in commercial agricultural irrigation.
3. Any person convicted of violating this ordinance
shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500. or by imprison-
ment in the County jail not to exceed sixty (60) days or by
both such fine and imprisonment.
4. This ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon becoming law.

Ex Officio Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners of
Hillsborough County, Florida, do hereby certify that the
above and foregoing is a true and correct copy of an emergency
ordinance adopted by the board by unanimous (5-0) voter in its
regular and special meeting of April 30, 1975, as the same
appears of record in Minute Book 59 of the Public Records
of Hillsborough County, Florida.
