Senator Guy Spicola
22nd District
725 E. Kennedy Blvd.
Tampa, Florida 33602

Dear Guy:
You were out when I called to talk with you, so I just wrote this letter.
Buddy Blain mentioned that you had agreed to spend a few hours talking
with us and also to help us try to get Senator Phil Lewis to visit South-
west Florida Water Management District. Attached is a draft of a letter
which you might consider sending to Senator Lewis. I wrote Senator Lewis
last month when I first learned of his appointment as Chairman of the
Senate Natural Resources Committee and in that letter I suggested a visit
to the Southwest Florida Water Management District. In his reply he
suggested that we contact him again after the first week in January to try
to arrange a convenient time.
Since you are the "home" Senator and Vice-Chairman of the Senate Natural
Resources Committee, a letter directly from you would carry much more
weight than mine, and would stand a better chance of getting him here for
a visit. Guy, I know that your calendar is full and your schedule tight,
so just pick a time convenient for you and Senator Lewis and we will arrange
our schedules accordingly. If you can spare as much as half a day, we could
plan on a one to two hour overflight of part of the District and then allow
another two hours to maybe show some slides and to allow discussion of some
of our problems and needs for the future.
Thanks for your help Guy, and anything you can do for us will certainly be
appreciated. Let me know if there is anything else you would like.
Sincerely yours,

DONALD R. FEASTER, P.E.
Executive Director

Senator Phil Lewis
Chairman, Senate Natural Resources Committee

Dear Phil:

I've talked briefly with Buddy Blain, SWFWMD's attorney, and he
requested that I sit down and talk with he and Don Feaster, Executive
Director, for a couple of hours regarding some of their problems and
needs for the upcoming legislative session. Don mentioned that he'd written
you and extended an invitation to visit SWFWMD and that you suggested he
contact you again after the first week in January. Phil, I'd like to extend
my invitation to you also and believe that if you could spend a day or part
of a day with us it would certainly be worth while. I would especially like
you to see and hear the details of some of our water resources problems here
in the Tampa Bay area, in and adjacent to my district. I can have Don set
up whatever arrangements might be most convenient with you and we could
either meet in SWFWMD's Brooksville office or here in Tampa. If you have
time, Don mentioned that he could rent a plane for a short overflight of
part of the District.

Please let me hear from you as soon as you can arrange your calendar and
then I'll get in touch with SWFWMD for final arrangements.

Sincerely yours,

Guy Spicola
