SB 350/HB 3120

PURPOSE

To provide the employees of the water management districts
with benefits comparable to those provided to state employes

HISTORY

The two water management districts with ad valorem taxing
powers have endeavored to provide salary schedules and othe
benefits for their employees that are comparable to those
provided to state employees. Meritorious service awardsar
currently available for state employees pursuant to Chapte
110.022(4)5 FS,, and are implemented in Chapter 22A-12,
Florida Administrative Code. Employees of water management
districts are unable to participate in this program, because
they are not state employees.

PROVISIONS OF BILL,

This bill provides the governing boards with the authority
adopt programs of meritorious service awards for their empoyes
The maximum permissable award is $2,,000.
