Sherry C. Brink Water Quality Well Complaint Investigation

Dear Mr. Heuer:

On April 9, 1993 Ms. Sherry Brink contacted the Authority stating that
her domestic well was and is producing water of poor quality. She
requested the Authority to investigate and or mitigate her water quality
problems. My conversation with Ms. Brink has revealed that she does NOT
have a water quantity problem, only a water quality one.

The Authority has initiated a water quality study for the northwest
Hillsborough County area which would encompass the Cosme Odessa, South
Pasco, Section 21, and Northwest Hillsborough Regional Wellfields. The
Bircor purpose of the study is to evaluate water quality data and information
from that region to determine if wellfield activities are having an
Ann Hildebrand impact on the quality of the water in that area.
Paul V Yingst
hares E Rainey Information from this study will be utilized to assist in evaluating Ms.
Brink's water quality complaint to determine if mitigation activities
R. aelsaon are appropriate. The results of this study are expected to be available
Jan lan by July 1, 1993 and will be forwarded to the District as soon as they
Debra A. Prewit become available.

Wellfield Well Mitigation

Dear Mr. Heuer:

Attached please find a table containing the information
requested in your February 17, 1993 letter to me. As is
evident from the attached table, most of the complaints in
question have already been mitigated. What is lacking at this
o~oets time, for the mitigated complaints listed, is a completion
report from our contractors detailing the mitigative action.

Phy',s Busansk has been shown. Complaints where mitigative actions are in

Me Salmon a final report to the District.
paulingst Authority staff has been working very hard to expedite well
oeora Prewit repair/replacement efforts under our "Good Neighbor Policy".
As you are aware, well repair/replacement under this policy is
not-predicated upon the extensive investigation and evaluation
Manager process the Authority previously utilized to determine causal
factors for each well problem. As such, we have been
HaroldvAiken providing the District with an abbreviated investigation
report within the 15 day time frame required by the W.U.P.
Mitigation conditions. After completion of well
repair/replacement activities our contractor or the homeowner,
as appropriate, provides a completion report to the Authority

LY Based on discussions with Mark Haberman of your o e, future
investigative reports will include, in addition to the
information currently provided, the following:

1. Initial complainant investigation form. These are
completed based on information collected over the
telephone from the homeowner, or in some cases the
contractor who drilled the original well. The form
is updated with information collected by the
drilling or pump repair contractor selected to
address the complaint. I have attached a blank
form for your review.

2. Estimated date for submittal of final report to
SWFWMD.

I trust that the information outlined above will be sufficient
for the District's purposes. If you have questions, please
contact me.

Sincerely,
