Re: 1971 Appropriations (JRDA)
Dear Colonel Sollohub:
The wording of the recent 1971 appropriations bill includes the statement:
"It is the intent of the Legislature that the Department of
Transportation shall plan and construct or relocate necessary
highway bridges in the major water managciment districts upon
the request of the Department of Natural Resources, from pri-
mary road funds available to the Department of Transportation."
In this category of construction, and as the next requirement toward the
orderly accomplishment of the Tampa Dypass Canal, the Southw0est Florida
Water Management District suggests the 1-4 complex of bridges over Tampa
Bypass Canal C-135 as a subject for a request for construction from the
Department of Natural Resources to the Department of Transportation.
Final design has been completed for this project and the Department of
Transportation has previously scheduled this work for a September 1971
We request that you submit a request to the Department of Transportation
for construction of the I-4 complex of bridges this fiscal year.
Very truly yours, .
