SUBJECT: PROPOSED FLORIDA POWER AND LIGT FACILITY
R D.I- VVDILI I- IN I- ) .L- I
Field study of water quality and :the proposed site conditions:
-has not shown any specific condition likely to adversely affectii--
groundwater. The good quality of the water and t.b low rate
So vertical percolation across the v -aterm, to, rabl o bo U dnary
1 offer no degredation to water supplies of the area.
i Two areas of concern do exist. Fir st, the largcre reduction ijn
streamflow can have a significa:tL e-i- t on the environment o'
the estuary) reach of the stree.:. Second, the surface drainage
i adjacent to the impounidnent ar-ea .iil be modified by both
blocked areas of no-rinal discharge, and increased lateral movement
of water in the water table near t-e irepoundrnent.
Florida Power and Light should be required to submit reports on
these factors and adjust designs to prevent the development of
unreasonable incompatibility between the facility and its surroundings.
The present field work indicates that the impoundment area might
extend into Hillsborough County along Curiosity Creek in Section 31,
T 32S, R 19E.
