A bill is pending before the Missouri Legis-
lature, which provides for the punishment of
all voters who stay away from the polls three
times in succession, with a forfeiture of their
right to hold any office in the State.
At the last meeting of the County Commis-
sioners, R. S. Sheldon was appointed fish
bailiff, to enforce the provisions of chapter
3147, No. 49. of the laws of tJhe legislature of
1879. entitled "An act to protect the food fishes
of this State. and to regulate the fisheries."
A fatal accident occurred last week near Vo-
lusia. A. Mr. Richardson had two children sick
with chills and fever and sent to a ielhbor'
for some quinine. Two doses of stryehnine
were *ut back by mistake, and were given to
the children with fatal effect.
