We will take the declaration of New
York, apon entering the Union, as the
true de8nition of the term "Secession,"
sadathorough and complete expositionor
the principle. TheOofivention of that
State, spon ratifying the present Constita-
tion said: "That the powers of government
may be reassumed by the people, whenso-
everitaballbecomenecessary totheir hap-

We call that good "Secession" doctrine
extracted from a very appropristo source,
under existing circumstances. If the peo-
ple of the great Spite of New York have
tho right to **reassume the powers of gov
ernment whensoev r it, shall become neces-
nryte their happiness,' then we think
heroopartners to the compact have the
same right, inasmuch as, they all entered
Ae Union as equals. If not, why riot?
Again, thegreat,$tate of Virginia, upon
entering the Union, declared in Conven-
tion that: We, the delegates of the people
of Virginia, duly elected in persuance of a
repommendation from the General Assem-
bly, and nowanet, in Convention, having
fullyandfreely investigated and disonesed
the proceedings of the Federail Convention,
and busing prepared as well as the most
mature deliberation bath enabled as to de-
aide thereon, do, in the name nod is be.

der the Constitution being derived from
the people of the United States, MAY BE
JLESUMED BY THEM, whensoever the
anone y be perverted so their injury or
oppreauxon, and that every power not
granted thereby, remains with them, and
at their mil.
TI. is from.such declarations as these by

The Persian Fever Obaral.
For the prevention and oure of Fever and
Ague and Bilious Fevers. ,This wonderful re-
medy wae brought to the knowledge of the pre-
sent proprietor by afriend who has been a great
traveler in Persia and the Holy Land.
While going down the river Euphrates, he ex-
perienced a severe attackof Fever and Age.---
On discovering his condition, one of the Boat-
mein took fl'em his person an Amutet. saying,
"Wear this and no Fever wpl touch you." Al-
thoughincredulons astoits Virtues; he complied,
and experienced immediate relief, and has since
always founditan effectual protectiOD ff0m All
malarious complaints
On further investigation he found that the
boatman attributed toitmiraculous powers, isnd
said that it could only be obtained from the
Priests of the Sun. Sometime afterwards, the
gentlemauin cornering with a Priest obtained
fromhimthesecret of its preparation, and as-
certained where the medicinalherbswerefound,
of whichit was compounded. Thewoluterful
virtues of this arliele have induced a full be-
lief in the midds of the natives in the miracu-
