The Secretary of State,
Referring to the Department's instruction of the 22nd
ultimo, I have the honor to enclose herewith copy and
translation of a note which the Legation has received from
the Cuban Foreign Office in reply to Hr. Gibson's informal
note of the 8th ultimo in regard to the complaint of the
Taco Bay Commercial Company concerning an alleged attempt
to despoil it of certain lands of its property against
thich, because of the connivance of the Judge and the
Registrar of Property of Baracoa, the Company claimed to
have no practical recourse in law.
