United States Senate.

Sir:

Referring to previous correspondence in regard to

the complaint of the Taco Bay Commercial Company of an

alleged attempt on the part of certain persons in Cuba

to despoil the company of a part of its property situated

in the locality of Baracoa, I have the honor to enclose

an extract from a despatch received from the Consul at

Santiago de Cuba, setting forth certain facts in relation

to the investigation made by him in this matter under in-

structions from the Department.

I also enclose for your information a copy of the

Department's letter to Mr. Walter P. Corbett, of Jackson-

ville, Florida, upon the, subject.
