Dear Mr. AdaBm
UMr Lamar passed through here yesterday enroute to
Washington to attend meeting of the Amerioan Bar Association. I
had ten minutess talk with him at the Station, and he advises ihat
we make no ooneession to Ar ajon who, as I have already informed
you, is claiming that Meoorma k included in his Furvey of our lands
some ten oaballeries or about 333 acres of his lnd, being a part
of the San AleJo Estate, which Estate form one of the Boundaries
of o=r property. I have wri-ten Arpajon thfat we certainly di. not
desire t totake a.y from hi any of his lands, etc, that we -'antod
only 'vhat wasa urs, eto. an d that if, upon .invst;gation we found
that any :orLioa of his lands, title 1o b'.e proved, -.vr inoluddo in
our Survey, very naturally .re should wish to so: it !'-estoreft to

I will advise you of auy further action. Meantime,
I an.writing T.'r-. i,,t to avoid nuy conflict -ith Ar-aJony 1to
avoid making enemiies of Arpa on end hiu neighbors,, etc. We shall
of oourse be guided by Lanar's advice when he shall have seen all
the papers, but I am tryingg to get the matter put off intil I can
reach the plantation in January and see junt what landsa -rp jon is
clai ing, eto., and try to make an amicable settlement of the matter
ouatide of the Courts.
I sent Gerardo Snares, our Assistant rauisel at Bara-
ooa, few York Exchange for $501.25 on yesterday. This pays him in
full, and is the ouint held for him by Mr. Rinohart, wlh is absent.
I trust you found your son's heal th rely improved,
and that Mra. Adams and yourself continue Inisaid health.

eeadingly busy trying to stem the tide of the effect of the I@ro-
