Republican de Cuba
Secretariat de Estado.
No. 1375. Habana, November 14, 1912.
Referring to Mr. Gibson's esteemed note of the 8th
ultimo, in regard to complaints made by the Taco Bay
Company concerning the ownership of certain lands, I have
the honor to inform Your Excellency that the Secretary of
the Treasury, to whom the matter was referred for informa-
tion, states that his Department has no knowledge of any
attempt having been made to despoil thatCompany of any
part of its property, and he believes that the reference
is made to cayo (key) "Jaragua" at Baracoa, which appears
to have boon included in lands belonging to that Company
known as the fincas (estates) "Jaragua", "Santa Maria"
and "Miramar" by the surveyor Mr. Edgar V. TeCormack in
running the boundaries, against which the Departimort of
Forests and Lines of Oriente filed an appropriate protest
on the ground that the key in question, like all other
keys, belongs, in accordance with legislation in force,
to the State.
I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to Your
Excellence the assurance of my most distinguished con-
(Signed) G. PATTESON
To His Excellency
Mr. Arthur M. Beaupr6,
E. E. and IU. P. of the U.S.A.,
etc., etc., etc.
