Black Gold Jubilee this weekend

A slew of activities
are planned, such
as the Torry Island
Game and Rest Area

By Naji Tobias
The Sun
BELLE GLADE - Torry-Island,
the site of this Saturday's 31st an-
nual Black Gold Jubilee, is consid-
ered a last frontier.
At least that's what the Jubilee
committee thinks, as they made it
this year's theme.

Fittingly, the majority -of this
weekend's events will be held
Apr. 18 at the island in question,
which should provide for lots of
fun and entertainment for those
who attend.
In what is quite possible the
biggest weekend of the year in the
Glades, turnout for the Black Gold
festivities is expected to top.5,000
people.
However, residents will want to
keep in mind that the figure could
actually end up being less, as the
Q-Fest Fun-Day-In-The-Park event,
hosted by NFL Pro Bowl wideout
Anquan Boldin, will be going on

simultaneously in his native home-
town of Pahokee.
Nonetheless, Black Gold en-
thusiasts will likely be proud of
all what's slated to occur on Sat-
urday, including South Bay's Great
American Cleanup Day event.
"Our community has been
blessed by God in so many ways,"
said Cheryl R. Stein, the Black Gold
Jubilee chairperson.
"We're fortunate to have the
'black gold' that supports our
massive agricultural production,"
she continued.
"Our productive soil can be
attributed to another rich asset

that dominates our area, Lake
Okeechobee, which is well known
to fishermen and nature lovers
alike."
Speaking of Lake Okeechobee,
Torry Island is within striking dis-
tance of the nation's second larg-
est freshwater lake.
There, a slew of schedules ac-
tivities abound for the biggest day
of the year in Belle Glade.
Here are the events that will
take place for Saturday's Black
Gold Jubilee, also known as the
end of harvest celebration:

BELLE GLADE - A 54-year-old
woman was tragically killed after
her vehicle plunged into the Hills-
boro Canal on Tuesday, Apr. 7.
Paramedics reportedly discov-
ered two occupants in a 1999 Ford
Windstar that were involved in the
fatal accident.
According to Craig Prusansky, a
captain with the Palm Beach Coun-
ty Fire Rescue, crews responded
to the incident at about 12:50 p.m.
and found out that the minivan
ended up in the canal at the inter-
section of West Canal Street and
Northwest Second Street.

As a result, the minivan report-

way and into the canal.
The vehicle went down in the
Hillsboro Canal north of the road-
way, according to the PBSO re-
port.
Miraculously, the passenger,
25-year-old Reginal Midy, escaped
the accident with no reported in-
juries as he simply got out of the
minivan, with the assistance of
PBSO deputies.
Unfortunately for the driver,
she reportedly was unable to exit
her vehicle and remained under-
water for a span of approximately
15 minutes.
In addition, a host of unidenti-
fied witnesses told paramedics
that the vehicle submerged rapidly
after plunging into the canal wa-

Belle Glade and Pahokee's new boxing champions

Local athletes represent
the Glades with fine
showmanship; bring back
titles

By Gerard Michael
Last Saturday, Palm Beach County was
action-packed when boxers from many
different parts of Florida came to the West
Jupiter Recreation Center to compete in the
Florida Golden Gloves finals and the Florida
Jr. Olympics.
In the Golden Gloves finals, Verbain Cur-
ry from Belle Glade was victorious against
Malcom Stimphill in a hard-fought Florida
Golden Gloves championship bout.
Curry won the championship via unani-
mous decision.
Seventeen-year-old Curry has been a
member of the Palm Beach County Athletic
League boxing team for over six years and is
a senior at Glades Central High School.
He has been a role model for youth both
in school and in sports. Curry is a success
both academically and athletically.
He gives credit for his success to the Palm
Beach County Sheriff's Office for support-
ing him. Sergeant Sean Flynn and volunteer
coach Willie Wiggins started helping Curry
when he walked into the Belle Glade PAL
Center in 2003.
When asked to comment on his recent
accomplishment, Curry in his humble way
said, "Thank you very much to all the people
who have made a difference to me. Thank
you Coach Willie, Sergeant Flynn, Deputy
Jackson and Deputy Mike LeStrange."
In his journey forward, Curry will be
competing for the National Golden Gloves
title in Salt Lake City, Utah, next month.
Coach Wiggins said he is so proud of Ver-
bain's accomplishments.
Just prior to Curry's win, Pahokee's 13-
year-old Trent Laidler, who is a student at

Pahokee Middle High
School, won the
Florida Junior Olym- I
pic boxing champi-
onship by winning a a..*.-
unanimous decision
against Tomas Avila.
Laidler is the first
Florida state cham-
pion from the new
Pahokee PBSO PAL
Boxing program that
started in May 2008. .
The PAL gym opened . .'
as a result of the
collaborative effort
of Captain Jeffery
Lindskoog, Lt. Rey
Alonso, and Pahokee
Parks and Recreation
Director Herb Craw-
ford.
Deputy LeStrange,
who volunteers as
a coach 20 hours a Coach Willie Wiggi

product of hard work
and God-given talent.
Coaches LeStrange and Wiggins have the
Belle Glade and Pahokee PAL boxing teams
train together monthly. Both of the -"volun-
teers feel their teams bring out the best in
each other and are unstoppable when they
compete against other Florida teams.
LeStrange said, "Belle Glade and Paho-
kee have some of the best kids anywhere.
I am especially proud of our boxer Deonte
Adams. Adams was our Junior Olympic run-
ner-up. His match was very close and the
decision could have gone either way. Truth-
fully, I feel Deonte won," he said. "Deonte is
doing well in school. He is respectful, and a
wonderful kid to coach."
Laidler will now advance to the regional
Junior Olympics in Orangeburg, S.C.

Submitted to INI
Trent Laidler is one of the many outstanding athletes that have come through
the PBSO's PAL program. Laidler won a recent match while representing his
hometown of Pahokee.

Current Drought Threatens

Florida Landscape

PALMDALE, Fla. - With much of Florida
under near-historic drought conditions,
landscape plants face a severe threat. Ex-
perts advise that, in addition to careful
watering schedules, homeowners utilize
mulch as part of a plant-protection strat-
egy.
"With so little rainfall in the past several
months, most Florida landscape plants are
tremendously stressed," said Alan Shaffer
vice president of sales and marketing for
7L Brands LLC, a producer of sustainable
mulch. "A layer of mulch can be a literal
lifesaver."
For starters; organic mulch helps plants
retain what little moisture remains in the
soil. "Even though there's been next to no
precipitation, plants and soil lose moisture
to evaporation, especially in the heat of the
day," Shaffer said. "A mulch layer reduces
that moisture loss in a big way."
In the same way that mulch keeps
moisture from getting out, it keeps other
things from getting in. "We're starting to
get to the time of year where the sun can
beat down pretty hard," Shaffer said. "Es-
pecially when they're dry, plant roots can
suffer from temperature extremes. Mulch
is a great natural insulator and protector of
root systems."
A good mulching strategy also protects
landscape plants from competition. "Most
people don't like weeds because they're
unsightly," Shaffer added. "What they
don't realize is that weeds are also steal-
ing water from the desirable plants. Mulch
helps to limit weeds' growth and spread,
which means the limited water supply hy-
drates the right plants."
In the wild, leaves and needles fall on
the ground to protect and build up the soil.
Mulch provides the same protective ben-
efits in man-made landscapes.
Some mulch application pointers:
*Weed and water before applying your
mulch.
*Apply a layer about 4 inches deep.
Less is good for finer mulch; more is good
for coarser mulch. If you're buying your
mulch in garden-store bags, figure that a

bag of it should cover an area about the
same length and width as the bag.
*Consider mulching under trees, all the
way out to their drip line to limit competi-
tion for water and nutrients and mimic the
way they grow in nature.
*Use environmentally sensitive mulch.
Florida cypress trees are a treasure; don't
contribute to the destruction of cypress
wetlands for landscape convenience.
7L Brands, a division of Lykes Bros. Inc.,
manufactures a line of truly sustainable eu-
calyptus mulch as the perfect environmen-
tally friendly alternative to cypress mulch.
Eucalyptus regenerates from the stump,
matures quickly and can be harvested four
times over 25-30 years. All mulch produced
at the plant is 100 percent pure virgin wood,
free of any construction, demolition, pallet
or other waste-wood materials.
. Recently, the company introduced an
aged heartwood eucalyptus mulch. It has
an all natural, rich, earthy red tone without
a chemical color additive.
7L Brand's new mulch manufacturing
facility has provided jobs for staff living in
Lee, Hendry, Glades and Highland coun-
ties.
Lykes Bros. Inc. was founded in Florida
by seven brothers more than 100 years
ago on the core values of unity, hard work,
stewardship, reinvestment in growth and
diversification of business. Historically the
company has managed a wide range of
businesses from shipping to banking while
maintaining a strong focus on its agricul-
tural lands in Glades and Highlands coun-
ties.
The company continues to demonstrate
its entrepreneurial spirit with recent moves
into renewable fuel crops and natural re-
sources management.
The addition of a sustainable mulch
product adds value to an already strong
landscape operation focused on sod and
native landscape trees. The company's
mission is to assure quality in its products
and services, stewardship of its land assets
and community involvement. For more in-
formation, visit www.7LBrands.com.

Take care of your feet and "Put Your Best Foot Forward"

By Pat Dobbins R.N., M.S./H.S.A.
Be kind to your feet.
Years of wear and tear can be hard on
.your feet, but disease, bad circulation, poor-
ly trimmed toenails, and wearing shoes that
don't fit can also affect your feet.
Your feet might be the last item on your
list of health concerns, but sometimes prob-
lems with feet are the first signs of more seri-
ous medical conditions such as arthritis, dia-
betes, and nerve or circulatory disorders.
Practice good foot care.
Keep your feet clean and dry.
Try putting your feet up when you are sit-
ting down to help keep the blood moving to
your feet.

Make sure you
shoes fit properly
and treat yourself
to a foot massage
once in a while!
Some com-
mon foot prob-
lems include
fungal infections,
corns, calluses,
Pat Dobbins. bunions, and in-
grown toenails.
Athlete's foot is a
type of fungal infection.
Shoes are warm, dark, and moist which
makes them the perfect place for fungus to

grow. A fungus can cause dry skin, redness,
blisters, itching, and peeling.
Over-the-counter anti-fungal powders or
creams may help, but sometimes it can be
hard to cure and you may need to see a doc-
tor. Corns and calluses are caused by pres-
sure when the bony parts of your feet rub
against your shoes.
Wearing shoes that fit better or using spe-
cial pads may help. Bunions develop when
the joints in your big toe no longer fit togeth-
er. Bunions usually run in the family.
Sometimes surgery is needed to relieve
the pressure and repair the toe joint. In-
grown toenails can be painful. They are
caused when your toenail breaks into the

skin. Usually this happens when you don't
Scut your toenails straight across so the cor-
ner of the nail can be seen above the skin.
Pay close attention to swollen feet. Swol-
len feet could be a sign of more serious
health problems.
If you continuously have swollen feet and
ankles, please see your healthcare provider.
If you have diabetes, good foot care is very
important.
Diabetes can cause poor blood flow to
the feet. Good foot care should be an impor-
tant part of your health care.
Don't get off on the wrong foot!

What are you willing to do for
$10,000,000?
Pastor John Hicks
First United Methodist Church
There is a fierce battle going on for
America's soul, and it's not between left
and right or black and white. It's between
the worship of mammon and God. As a na-
tion, we're in love with things, and those
things are becoming a substitute for healthy
relationships and moral values.
Some time back, researchers asked
Americans, "What are you willing to do for
$10,000,000?" The answers form an inter-
esting picture of our changing values. 25%
would abandon their entire family. 25%
would abandon their church. 23% would
become prostitutes for week or more. 16%
would give up their American citizenship.
16% would leave their spouses. 10% would
withhold testimony and let a murderer go
free. 7% would kill a stranger. 3% would put
their children up for adoption.
In times like these, we need people who
will stand in the gap on our behalf. We
need saints.
Who are the saints? How many can you
name? Saint Peter? Saint Stephen? Saints
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? Saint Paul?
How about Saint Francis of Assissi or Saint
Augustine? One of my favorites is Saint
Barnabas, because his name means, "Son
of Encouragement".
What is it that makes a saint in the first
place? Is it personal virtue and discipline?
Or is it concern for the poor and the out-
cast? Is a saint pious and austere? Or is a
saint merry and outgoing? We have had ex-
amples throughout history of both.
The Roman Catholic Church has a long
list of those who have been canonized -
usually some two hundred years after their
deaths, and after a careful scrutiny of their
lives, work, and continuing influence. Even
with all of this, I doubt that we could get
together as Christians on a list of the top ten
saints, especially if we omitted the original
twelve Apostles.
According to the New Testament, the
saints are not a select group of persons with
haloes around their heads. They are simply
the members of the Christian fellowship,
men and women who live by faith in Jesus
Christ and in whose lives the Holy Spirit is
at work.
A saint leaves the world a better place
because he or she has been here. I love
the way Frederick Beuchner once put it,

"In his holy flirtation with the world, God
occasionally drops a handkerchief. These
handkerchiefs are called saints."
A saint doesn't have to go to Calcutta
like Mother Teresa, or Africa like Albert Sch-
weitzer. But neither are they a part of the
"Me" generation. They take life seriously,
but not themselves. They know that life is
too short to sit around and fret over little
things.
A saint is an important part of his or
her church. An important part of his or her
community. This points out the fact, how-
ever, that we too should be candidates for
sainthood.
A common day saint's faithfulness in
service, sacrificial giving, and loving devo-
tion has formative influence on lives around
them and provide open channels of oppor-
tunity for service.
Let us, then, resolve to take the high
road with our lives, .the saintly road. Let
us dare lay claim to our heritage as God's
children. Let us not be afraid or ashamed
to join Abraham and all the saints of all the
ages in launching out toward the land God
has promised we can possess.
As Easter approaches, "Let us fix our
eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of
our faith, who for the joy.set before him
endured the cross, scorning its shame, and
sat down at the right hand of the throne of
God." (Hebrews 12:2)

"Easter" is over... But!
By The Reverend Samuel S.
Thomas, Ph. D.+
Saint Martin's Church, Clewiston
In the usual sense of things "Easter" is
over for 2009. The special Sunday will have
been celebrated and the new clothes will
have been worn; time to think about the
next holiday.
The faithful should have been reminded
of why the Sunday is special- the Resurrec-
tion and it's promise for us all. What is spe-
cial about Sunday anyway? Some would re-
call the commandment to "remember the
Sabbath, to keep it holly (Exodus 20:8)" as
did the spiritual ancestors of the Christians,.
and insist that the last day of the week, Sat-
urday, in modern terms is to be set aside.
The Lord and His followers were ac-
cused by the Pharisees of "working on the
Sabbath (Mark 2:23ff)) and Jesus reminds
them that "The Sabbath is made for man,
not man for the Sabbath (v.27).'
He would heal on the Sabbath. Jesus

asks His detractors -which of them, if they
had an ox or a donkey fall into a well, would
not pull it out on the Sabbath? (Luke 14:5)
and they could not.answer Him. Sabbath"
is akin to "seventh" and is a means that we
return to God a "seventh", resting and re-
freshing. We, who are made in His image,
take what He took and "keep it holy." Why,
then, Sunday?
Early Christians were from Hebraic tra-
ditions and they would worship on Satur-
day, as was their custom. As they became
Christians, they would keep the celebration
of Sunday, following their Old Testament
worship that ended Saturday night and go
into Christian worship Sunday morning.
What was special about Sunday and not
any other day?
Sunday is Resurrection Day. Eacj Sim-
day is a recollection of Easter. Each Sunday
is the day most appropriately set aside for
worship because it commemorates the
greatest event known to humanity - Easter
Day. That is what Jesus' disciples did. As the
faith spread and people from all religious
backgrounds became followers, the neces-
sity in celebrating on Saturday ceased and
celebrations were on the chosen Sabbath,
the commemoration of Resurrection Day.
Today, we celebrate Sundays because it
is a commemoration of Easter,: Resurrec-
tion Day and each Sunday is an "Easter" in
its' own right.
Easter, in fact, is not over; it is a weekly
celebration and not just once a year. Faithful
people attend Church on this Resurrection
Day for this reason.
At the heart of their worship is the Eas-
ter message; The Lord arose and overcame
death, , He promised that we would be with
Him, and our worship is in homage to the
One who gives us life eternal. That's what
Sunday is about; that's what Easter is about.
Easter celebrations have not ended; they go
on and on as they should and we celebrate
them in thanksgiving as we should, too.
May we do so this coming "Easter Sunday"
and all of the Sundays that follow.

Why we need the Lord
By Jackie Miller, Evangelist
First Christian Church
Why will men reject the Lord? Why will
they refuse to give Him His rightful place in
their lives? Why are we so hesitant to give
Him all our lives? Oh how we need the
Lord!
Our SOULS need the Lord for SALVA-

TION. Under the painful condemnation of
Almighty God, man has one and only one
hope of release - the Lord Himself. If he
rejects Him all.hope of salvation has been
forfeited. But, praise God for the open door
of salvation and for the "whosoever will"
invitation extended! As we read God's just
condemnation of our souls, how convicted
we stand before Him! Not a mouth of retali-
ation is opened. God is right. Yes, we need
the Lord for salvation.
Our LIVES need the Lord for TRANS-
FORMATION. Every year that we were in
sin, our moral nature and our character
became more perverted and steeped in the
ways of the world. How far short we have
fallen of the glory of God! When we decide
to do right, it is a long and hard battle to
throw off the yoke and dominion of sin.
Truly, we are "babes" and not giants
when we accept the Lord. We need the Lord
for spiritual growth. Only Christ can make
us what we ought to be. But, oh the power
and the mightiness of His grace manifested
in a yielded life! Humility displaces pride;
tenderness displaces courseness; piety dis-
places prodigality; courage displaces fear.
Oh the wretchedness of our lives without
His transforming power! Yes, we need the
Lord for transformation.
Our HEARTS need the Lord for COM-
PANIONSHIP. "Oh the glory of His presence!
Oh the beauty of His face! I am His, and His
forever: He has won me by His grace!" This
is the song of every true Christian's heart.
Leaning on Jesus, "What a fellowship!
What a joy divine!"
There is comfort in times of sorrow;
strength in time of weakness; peace in time
of trouble; hope in time of seeming defeat;
light- in time of darkness; help for every
need, and grace for every trial. No one can
go along without Him easily. In a world of
adversity, strife, and temptations, we need
the Lord for companionship.
How I love that old hymn "I Need Thee
Every Hour." Its words are'so true. We need
the Lord in life. We need Him in death. And
we need Him in judgment.
If we have gone "all the way" with Him,
we know that He will go "all the way" with
us. The salvation accepted here will be fully
realized in glory. The transformation of life
done here will be much appreciated there.
And the companionship begun here will
become more precious and intimate there,
and it, with its blessings, will know no end.

Great American Cleanup Day in South Bay

Event to be held this
Saturday at Tanner Park

By Naji Tobias
The Sun
SOUTH BAY - The crossroads of South
Florida seems to be on its way to a beautiful
recovery.
If one travels through U.S. Highway 27 or
State Road 80, it won't be difficult to see that
through the naked eye.
A series of beautification projects cur-
rently going on, along with this Saturday's
Great American Cleanup Day event, will go
a long way toward revitalizing the future of
this small municipality.
Edgar Kerr, the city's public works direc-
tor, is ecstatic to be in the middle, of a host
of improvements being made, including the
repavement of U.S. 27 and S.R. 80, the re-
placements'of old street signs and the pro-
posed refurbishment of Cox Park, to name
just a few.
Cox Park, which is located at the corner
of East Palm Beach Road and Northwest
Eight Street, now has a total of four light
poles, which improves lighting for the youth
the play basketball at night.
"We did that in an effort to move the kids
from the streets to the park at night,"- Kerr
said.
The city park's lights are automatically

turned off at 11 p.m.,.with the area's chil-
dren ordered to vacate the premises an hour
earlier.
Now, the city is focusing on refurbishing
the park's bathroom, which will cost South
Bay approximately $45,000.
"We're trying to make it happen," Kerr
said of the Cox Park project.
The Great American Cleanup Day event,
which will be based at Tanner Park this
weekend, is expected to begin at 8 a.m.
sharp, according to Kerr.
As Kerr hopes that at least 50 area resi-
dents to take part in this occasion, he would
like for the prospective participants to ar-
rive at Tanner Park about 30 minutes early
so they could fill out their registration forms
and receive instructions.
The city's public works director is confi-
dent that citizens will get excited about this
weekend, as they now could actually see
the efforts being made to improve South
Bay's image.
Other than a mass litter removal cam-
paign taking place this Saturday, there are
plans to beautify the city's rectangle, which
is located right by the S.R. 80 ramp toward
U.S. 27.
The project, according to Kerr, is slated to
be the final piece of the U.S. 27/S.R. 80 refur-
bishment initiative that will be worked on.
Though there's no specific date set for
that triangle project, it's expected that- the

On April 12th, Easter Sunday, the crew from Palm Beach
County Fire Rescue Station 72 C shift organized an
Easter egg hunt for the children of Pahokee. The event
was first of its kind in this area. Days before, the crew
gathered hundreds of dollars in donations to help with
the egg hunt. Approximately 2,000 plastic eggs, numer-
ous bags of candy, chocolate Easter bunnies and Eas-
ter baskets were all donated from sponsors in our area.
The day kicked off with a giant egg hunt at Rardin Park

county-funded improvements will be com-
pleted within the next year.
Also included in the road project is the
erection of sidewalks on S.R. 80, which will
span from South Bay's city limits to State
Road 715 in Belle Glade.
The Pioneer Park Aquatic Center, which
will open this summer, is an approximate-
ly two mile walk for kids that live in South
Bay.
The Aquatic Center is located on S.R.
715, which is near Pioneer Park Elementary
School.
In addition to that, a grant has recently
been submitted for about $700,000 to focus
on drainage improvements to the city.
Though it's not set in stone at this present
time, there are plans to submit a $3 million
grant for the repavement of the city's side
streets, which has long been the citizens"
top complaint.
"Our citizens are concerned about the
city being cleaned up," Kerr said.
"We hope they take advantage of this op-
portunity."

About 60 children ran throughout the park searching for
eggs stuffed with treats and prizes. The laughter, cheer-
ing and smiling faces of many children could be seen
all over the park! Then, the firefighters from Station 72
drove throughout their community handing out bags of
Easter eggs and Easter baskets. Kids from all over were
so excited and had tears of joy!

being reported missing

WESTERN PALM BEACH COUNTY - At
long last, Pahokee resident Ocie Mae Saul-
berry, 40, has been found.
However, on the morning of Apr. 8 - ex-

actly one month to the day Saulberry was
discovered missing - she was reportedly
found dead in a canal.
It was revealed by the Palm Beach County
Sheriff's Office (PBSO) that Michael Fincan-
non, their agricultural unit detective, located
the woman at State Road 80, just one mile
east of State Road 700.
The discovery reportedly took place at
about 10:03 a.m., though the public an-
nouncement wasn't made until about 3:05
p.m. that afternoon.

According to Teri Barbera, a PBSO
spokeswoman, the 1992 white Buick sedan
that Saulberry drove was the one detectives
had been attempting to locate for the past
month.
Investigators reportedly found the tag in
question - I048NR - and the woman's body
inside the vehicle.
A PBSO homicide report said that the
woman was traveling westbound on S.R. 80

as she was approaching S.R. 700 (Connors
Highway).
For unknown reasons, according to de-
tectives, the Buick sedan drifted toward the
right shoulder of the highway less than a
mile east of S.R. 700.
The vehicle, which reportedly overcor-
rected and traveled left into the center me-
dian area of the roadway, continued travel-
ing over the center median area and into the
eastbound lanes of S.R. 80.
The woman's car then traveled into the
south shoulder of the highway and into the

canal, investigators determined.
As previously reported, on Sunday, Mar.
8, the mother of four children was report-
edly traveling east from Pahokee to Bingo
Magic in West Palm Beach.
The bingo facility is located on 865 S.
Congress Avenue.
It was revealed by the PBSO, who ini-
tially reported the incident, that the woman,
of 849 Padgett Circle in Pahokee, was seen
driving to the bingo hall with the Buick four-
door sedan.
The woman reportedly made the trek to
West Palm Beach at about 5 p.m. on that
Sunday afternoon.
It was not known at that time whether
or not she made it to the destination, as her
family has reportedly been unable to contact

her since that fateful time.
According to Larry Wright, a series of
candlelight vigils, best known as the 'Candle-
light Walk of Hope' were held at Pahokee's
Padgett Circle.
A host of family members and friends at
the candlelight ceremony were hoping that
the woman would be found, but not in the
way they later learned.
PBSO Lieutenant Reinaldo Alonso said
that deputies filed a missing person report
on Mar. 9, the day after the incident.
It was revealed that the PBSO Communi-
cations Center had contacted a host of area
hospitals, as well as the bingo hall, to find
out where the woman was last seen.
