Team members can come from corporations, small businesses, community organizations, medical and educational facilities, government of ces, and nonpro t agencies. For each team member, The Rotary Foundation provides the most economical round-trip air ticket between the home and host countries. The guidelines are based on stakeholder input and designed to be consistent with the updated Gopher Tortoise Management Plan approved in September 2012. Updated permitting guidelines provide adequate nancial planning for the longterm management of gopher tortoise recipient sites, stipulations for the capture of tortoises for relocation when using a backhoe, and criteria to de ne when to suspend, revoke or not renew an authorized gopher tortoise agent permit. This action comes during the time of year when gopher tortoises begin their springtime maneuvers through Florida's open canopy forests and sandy areas. Tortoises are on the move in search of fresh greenery to eat after emerging from winter dormancy in their deep burrows. "Ever since the 2007 approval of the original Gopher Tortoise Management Plan, the FWC has worked closely with stakeholders to improve and revise both the gopher tortoise permitting guidelines and the management plan," said Deborah Burr, the FWC's gopher tortoise management plan coordinator. "Conservation of gopher tortoises and their burrows that shelter other species is our long-term goal, so they always will be part of Florida's landscape." Gopher tortoises live in all of Florida's 67 counties, preferring high, dry, sandy places such as longleaf pine forests, oak sandhills, pine atwoods and coastal atlands and dunes. Their burrows can be recognized by the half-moon shape of the entrance, whic h curves at the top. The gopher tortoise is listed as a stat e threatened species, and it is against the la w to harm gopher tortoises, their burrows o r eggs. Generally, it is best to leave a gophe r tortoise undisturbed, unless you need t o move it off a highway. Then it should b e placed immediately on the other side of th e road and pointed in the same direction tha t it was traveling. For more on gopher tortoises, go to My FWC.com/GopherTortoise. Stop wasting money Limit the take home vehicles for sheriff’s of ce and any other county employees w ho drive county vehicles to those who live in the county. This county is in the top 16 counties out of 67 in the state for property tax rate. It’s hard to get businesses to move here w hen we don’t have a lot to offer and our t otal tax rate is so high. The status quo right now is that we are borrowing money for the y early budget and the future is not looking any better. The commissioners need to balance the budget and start making deals with b usinesses to get them to move here. I hear t here is some gun manufacturers that are looking for a place to move to. The 12-hour shift schedule is worked b y the a large percentage of industries that are a 24/7 schedule. Other businesses that are controlled by OSHA or DOT are not allowed to work over a 12-hour shift because of safety concerns. Do you want a paramedic t hat has been awake for over 24 hours working on you? Truck drivers are only allowed to w ork 12 hours then require an eight hours rest. The 12-hour shift is easy—you can look it up online. The shift is 40 hours a week and 4 weeks per month. The shift is four 12-hour shifts in a row, 2 days off, three 12hour shifts, 2 days off, three 12-hour shifts, 2 days off, four 12-hour shifts, 7 days off. Overt ime is paid for over 40 hours in a week or 80 hours in a 2 week pay period. When you put it down on a calender you have about 4 hours a month in overtime. It is a safer shift for everyone and it is approved by OSHA and DOT while the 24-shift isn’t. I believe that most of the powerplants in Florida work this s chedule, so it has been around for awhile and proved to work. Have any of you worked 20 hours s traight without rest—are you thinking and responding normally? With the 12-hour shift s chedule there is no need to have employees sleeping while at work. It would be nice to sell it to the union but the county doesn’t have to. They could simply tell that this is what is going to happen and you don’t like it you have the right in the state of Florida to leave. Second Amendment Rights On March 23, we came four votes away from the United States Senate giving our Constitutional rights over to the United Nations. In a 53-46 vote, the senate narrowly passed a meas ure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. The Statement of Purpose from the bill read: To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small rearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S., and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo. Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power. Has anyone else noticed that the lapdog media is bending over backwards helping this administration in gun grabbing. The deaths in Newtown are tragic, but why does the administration and the media ignore the hundreds of gun deaths every month in our nation’s cities? Is it because these deaths involve hand guns that were illegally purchased or stolen? Adding more laws won’t stop the violence. Cities such as Chicago, which has a terrible problem with violence, already have strict gun laws. The media and the administration don’t want to deal with the bigger issue—the breakdown of our society due to the breakdown of the family. More than half of babies born to women under the age of 30 are born to unwed mothers. It is the norm now for kids to grow up in one-parent homes. No one wants to talk about the real problems in our society. Dog park I think we need a dog park in Okeechobee. I want a place to be able to take my dogs and let them run off leash and socialize with other dogs. How about Okee-Tantie? Perfect spot. There’s nobody out there! Probably not the best idea to have dogs running loose near the water! Dogs are alligators’ favorite food! To the people of OkeechobeeFirst let me thank all of you who visited me and prayed for me during my recent hospitalization. Those actions were greatly appreciated and I am on the road to recovery. Thanks for the memories. It is with mixed emotions that I leave the Okeechobee News after 11 years. This was a hard decision based on personal reasons and came after much thought and prayer. It’s been a great 11 years. Every day was different and I never knew what to expect. I was able to y in several WWII era aircraft and even brie y take the controls of one, drive a Model T Ford and go up in a hot air balloon, not to mention all the interesting people I interviewed. Before I took this job I did not know local government could be so interesting and often amusing. The city council is pretty predictable. Only once did I ever know them to take up an issue that was not on the agenda. The county commission is a totally different story. After 11 years they still surprise me. I never know what to expect. It’s the items not on the county commission agenda that make things interesting. I want to thank everyone who has helped me through the years. I have always tried to never be rude or pushy. Some people may have felt I stepped on their toes, but I always tried to be fair and impartial. I always tried to separate politics and friendship. Thanks especially to all the clerks and secretaries who have helped me. They are the ones in any organization who have all the answers. People have asked me how I became a reporter. All I can say is that it was the Good Lord looking after me. I never intended to b e a newspaper reporter, but it worked out better than anything I could have planned. God Bless you all, Pete Gawda Formerly of the Okeechobee NewsBack on my feetA very special thank you to Raulerson Hospital and all the employees who were so helpful in getting me back on my feet. that comes into the department starts with dispatch.” He said the department has four full-time dispatchers, and two other people who are trained dispatchers and can ll in when necessary. However, they are currently assigned full-time to the OCPD record and administration departments. Of his dispatchers, Maj. Peterson said: “We feel our dispatchers serve the community better than any others, and we’re proud of them.” As for the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Of ce, Major Noel Stephen said he currently has 17 full-time dispatchers who man the 9-1-1 center, take calls from the public and dispatch. He went on to describe them as “multi-taskers.” “These folks are the hub of our wheel. The deputies and detectives rely on precise and accurate information being obtained from the people reporting these crimes and incidents,” he said. “This information is important to assure the safety and wellbeing of responding of cers and allows them to properly handle our citizen complaints.” OCSO Public Information Of cer Michele Bell said this special week was the idea of Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa, Calf., Sheriff’s Of ce in 1981. Her idea was endorsed by the Association of Public Safety Communications Of cials (APCO) before it was formally proclaimed by the U.S. Congress. Within seconds of receiving each call, dispatchers are working to determine the level of response needed for an incident and dispatching the appropriate number o f units. They are often times the rst contact a citizen has during an emergency. The service and commitment to excellence of the telecommunicator employees drives the success of the communications center. “We appreciate these folks and want to recognize them—especially during this week,” said Maj. Chuck Parker spoke last week to the Kiw anis Club of Okeechobee. Mr. Parker is the County Disaster Services Manager. The main focus of his presentation was services offered by The American Red Cross with a focus on disaster services and health and safety programs. Parker provided an account of nationw ide response last year citing Super Storm Sandy because the event required the largest Red Cross response in ve years. Locally, the Red Cross is responsible for public shelter and food in the event of a disaster. Other responsibilities are providing bulk distribution, clean up kits and counseling for victims of disaster. Mr. Parker cited house res as the most frequent disaster response need in Okeechobee and also nationwide. Okeechobee County has a Red Cross team of volunteers available on a 24/7 basis to provide support in times of disaster. When asked what the public can do to minimize damage prior to a disaster of any kind, Mr. Parker stated that educating yourself is the most important step you can take. Parker mentioned two websites to help, redcross.org and oridadisaster.org. Both provide check lists and manuals designed to help your family prepare yourself in event of disaster. Hurricane season begins June 1 and most hurricane forecast services predict a busy season nationwide. Run, BBQ bene ts Special Olympics Man sentenced to jail for comments made to judgeBy Eric KoppOkeechobee NewsAn Okeechobee man reportedly fled from deputies in a stolen vehicle but w as apprehended the next day when he w as found crouching behind a fence at a home on N.E. 13th Ave. George Deane, 21, N.E. 17th Ave., w as arrested Tuesday, April 16, on felony charges of grand theft auto and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer w ith a motor vehicle. He was also charged with the misdemeanors of resisting a law enforcement officer without violence (two counts), no v alid driver’s license and reckless driving. He was booked into the Okeechobee County Jail where he is being held on $77,500 bond. Deane was also arrested on Okeechobee County warrants that charged him w ith the felony of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, and the misdemeanor of driving while license suspended/revoked. He is being held without bond on these charges also. Because of comments reportedly made to the judge by Deane at his firstappearance hearing, Deane was twice ruled to be in contempt of court. The judge sentenced him to six months in the county jail on each charge, with the sentences to run consecutively. Deputy Justin Akins, of the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), first came into contact with Deane around 8 p.m. Monday, April 15. In his arrest report, the deputy said he was patrolling in the 700 block of N.E. 15th Ave. when he saw Deane standing near the railroad tracks. The deputy stated that because Deane knew there was an active felony warrant calling for his arrest he reportedly ran from the scene on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, continued the report, Deputy Akins lost sight of Deane. Then, shortly after 1 a.m., the deputy again came into contact with Deane. This time, stated the deputy, Deane was sitting in the passenger seat of a gold Nissan Altima in the 600 block of N.E. 13th Ave. When the deputy knocked on the passenger window and told Deane to get out of the car, the man allegedly moved over to the driver’s seat and put the car in gear. By this time Deputy Akins stated he was standing in front of the car and had to jump out of the way to keep from being run “... over with the vehicle.” According to the deputy’s report Deane drove away at a high rate of speed and when he reached the 900 block of N.E. 14th Ave., he jumped from the car and ran away on foot. Deputy Akins and three other OCSO deputies searched but they were unable to locate Deane. By this time a woman approached OCSO Deputy Bart Potter, who was one of the deputies searching for Deane, and claimed that Deane had stolen her car. Deputy Akins said around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday he, several other deputies from the road patrol along with detectives from the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force went to a home in the 1100 block of N.E. 13th Ave. It was here that Deputy Akins and one of the detectives found Deane. The report indicated it took Deputy Akins and two of the detectives to arrest Deane, who tried to keep his hands away from the deputies to avoid being handcuffed. The owner of the car later filed a complaint against Deane for allegedly taking her car without her permission. Suspected felon ees in stolen car George Deane

Jason Claude Hunter, 42, S.E. Fourth St., Okeechobee, was arrested Tuesday, April 16, on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (diazepam) and a misdemeanor charge of battery. He was booked into the Okeechobee County Jail and is currently being held there on $15,000 bond. Records show that Hunter was initially arrested March 26 on felony charges of battery on a law enforcement of cer and cultivation of marijuana. He was also charged with the misdemeanors of possession of marijuana under 20 grams and resisting a law enforcement of cer without violence. His bond on those charges was set at $17,000, and he was released from jail after posting bond. Hunter's latest brush with the law came Tuesday afternoon when a woman walked into the Okeechobee City Police Department (OCPD) and led a complaint against him. According to OCPD Of cer Chad Troutman's arrest report the victim went to a friend's home to lend her some money. While the victim was speaking with her female friend Hunter, who lives in the home with the victim's friend, reportedly came up behind the victim and started hitting her in the back of the head. After striking her several times, Hunter pushed the woman to the ground and began kicking her, indicated a statement by a witness to the incident. The woman managed to get away from her attacker and immediately went to the police department to le the complaint. Of cer Troutman's report indicated that the victim said Hunter does not like her because she told her friend to leave him. The OCPD of cer returned to the home on S.E. Fourth Street but, when he asked to see Hunter, the woman reportedly told the of cer Hunter was no longer there. Finally, stated the report, the of cer asked for permission to search the home. During that search Of cer Troutman stated he found Hunter hiding in the shower. The of cer then placed Hunter under arrest, and as Of cer Troutman was conducting a pat down of Hunter he found a ashlight in the man's pants pocket. When the of cer looked inside that ashlight he allegedly found 12 pills that were later identi ed as diazepama schedule IV narcotic. Of cer Troutman stated he also found a small amount of what appeared to be Spicea synthetic marijuana. The of cer said that substance will be sent to the Indian River Crime Lab in Fort Pierce for testing. The suspected Spice weighed 1 gram, added the report. By Charles M. MurphyOkeechobee News Carissa Licata prides herself on her speed and quickness on the softball eld. She estimates it takes her 2.6 to 2.7 seconds to run from home plate to rst base during a game. She also doesn't take long to make crucial decisions in her life, as she verbally committed this month to play for Florida Gulf Coast University. Licata said once she visited the campus and studied about it, Florida Gulf Coast was the only choice she could make to play college softball. "I was just really excited because before I knew I would play softball there I really wanted to go there for school. I was set in my mind and I'm so ready to go there already," she said. Licata intends to study exercise science and one day become a chiropractor or physical therapist. Licata is only a junior this year and is arguably one of the fastest softball players in the entire state. Her speed and out eld defense got the attention of coach Dave Deiros at Florida Gulf Coast. He saw her play at a tournament over the summer, was impressed, and then started to watch her on a regular basis. "I caught his eye and impressed him," Licata said, "They have a really good program. Last year they beat Florida and they also won the Atlantic Sun Conference recently." Licata loves the beach and having beach front behind her dormitory was a huge draw for her. Another important factor is the college is Division I and only two hours from home. She also likes the neighborhood and having things close by. "You can't beat a Division I college that is two hours from home and on the beach," she added. Licata said making the decision a year early takes a lot of pressure off. She can now concentrate on her athletics and academics and not be stressed out by other offers that were sure to come. "I really didn't see myself being anywhere but Florida and I really didn't want to go out of state," she added. Licata took up gymnastics at an early age and participated until she was 11. She started to play softball at age 6 when she lived in West Palm Beach. She played for various leagues there and then joined the Chobee Firestix program when she moved to Okeechobee. She has played travel ball on the coast for nearly seven years. She said travel ball was a real key factor in her development as a player. "It is a big help to your game. They are so competitive over on the coast and I learned a lot from my coaches," she said. A key skill she learned is slapping' which helps keep the defense off balance and improves her on base percentage. She is also an accomplished bunter. Licata also ran cross country at OHS for her sophomore and freshman seasons. She will earn a three-year letter in softball this year. While her speed is well above average, her defense is also outstanding, and her bat has also steadily improved. She thanked her father Frank for helping her improve her all-around game. She also thanked all of her coaches since she moved to Okeechobee which include Heather Gillis, Kim Hargraves and Mark Ward and her coastal coaches like Jim Stump that assisted her in getting into college. Licata said in the past year she has become more of a student of the game of softball. She tries to survey the entire defense to see where they are positioned before she enters the batters' box. By doing this, she can determine what her strategy should be. She also is given the green light on the base paths to steal bases. She has not been thrown out this year. She said it has been three or four years since she was thrown out trying to steal. "My dad was really fast in college and basically I get my speed from him. He helps me a lot. He set up a whole facility at home for me to work on hitting and to do springs. I want to keep getting faster," she explained. She also praised her stepmom Trina Licata for her assistance. 2 Serving the communities south of Lake Okeechobee May 27, 2010 BAR-B-Q & STEAK CO.202 NE 7th Ave All You Can Eat Baby Backs999$margaritas all day$11Lb Rib Eye9913$live musickaraokeAll You Can Eat Catfish999$25 cent drafts Every Weekend Weekend $ 99 4 Rack Baby Back Ribswith 6 golden shrimp and 1 side1299$ladies night 6-10pmAll You Can Eat Baby Backswith 2 sides1399$$00Slow Roasted Prime RIbw Baked Potato Salad19(Starting at 4pm)4 Piece Fried Chicken Dinner899$15% church discountkaraokelive musiclive musicOkeechobeeLive Music Starts pm1/2 @9 St. Lucie County Fairgrounds 15601 W Midway Rd € 866.611.0442 7 artists 300 acres of country music Gone-Country.comAirboat show, kidz zone, vendors, mechanical bull, adult beverages, food and tons of cowgirls and cowboys!Breast Cancer Bene“t Concert!Fort Pierce Featuring the REDNECK WOMAN HERSELF April 20 th Gates open at noon Ends at 11pm with Gone Country after party GRETCHEN WILSON Buy tickets online at gone-country.com OR at any Cowboys BBQ & Steak Co. location and Eli’s Western Wear in Okeechobee! MurphyOkeechobee News Danyelle Shef eld tossed a six-hit shutout and Okeechobee secured yet another regional berth Wednesday night as they defeated Fort Pierce Central 4-0 at the District 12-7A Tournament in Okeechobee. The Lady Brahmans advance to meet the South Fork Lady Bulldogs on Friday night at 7 p.m. at OHS. Okeechobee played well in all facets of the game in one of their better efforts of the season. Shef eld worked her way out of two early inning jams and then dominated, retiring the side in order for the nal three innings. Sarah Davis and Stormy Stokes both had two hits. Carissa Licata continued to cause havoc with her speed as she scored a run and had an RBI bases-loaded walk in a two-run fourth inning. OHS coach Heather Gillis said the team must have all parts of the game working to get wins because anything can happen in this evenly matched district this year. She said the team hit the ball, had good pitching, and had strong defense Wednesday. She also has spent more time with the pitchers, working on execution of pitches, changing speeds, and different grips and spins on the ball. She praised Shef eld for her hard work. "She was able to relax after the early jams. It helps to have defense behind you because it puts you at ease. She pitched a great game at Sebring last week so I'm really impressed with her," Gillis added. Shef eld was slowed a bit by injury this y ear. Gillis and assistant coach Mary Huff have worked hard with her in recent weeks to improve her skills and it has appeared to pay off. Shef eld admitted she was very nervous w hen she took the mound but that her teammates really calmed her down. "We really came together as a team and talked tonight and that helps. The coach talks to us and calms us down. There really wasn't a lot of tension or stress." Shef eld was able to change speeds effectively and keep the Lady Cobras off balance. She was also able to throw strikes and didn't walk a batter in the game. "I focused on my different spins and hitting my spots. I think I kept them off balance. The town doesn't expect us to go too far this year and it was good to come out and win and keep it going," she added. Davis said she told the girls before the game started that she didn't want her high school career to end just yet. She said all of the girls want to keep the season going. "I see the ball well. If I see the ball I hit it. Fort Pierce is a lot better than they used to be. We showed them who we are and came out with the win," she added. South Fork defeated Martin County 9-8 with a three-run rally in the nal inning to earn a berth in the district nal against OHS Friday night. The two teams split two games during the regular season with each team winning on the other's home eld. Gillis said at this point it is hard to predict an outcome. "Honestly, who knows what is going to happen. If the girls come out with a positive attitude, don't get worked up and take a chill pill, I think things will work out pretty well." Shef eld said she would love to be on the mound for that game but noted the team has several other strong pitchers to choose from, "South Fork will de nitely be a threat. We can't take any team lightly because every player will come out wanting to win a district title Friday." MurphyOkeechobee News Shelly Batton, an Okeechobee native, thought she was realizing a dream Monday w hen she ran in the prestigious Boston Marathon. Of course that dream was interrupted, under an hour after she nished the course, as a suspected terrorist attack claimed three lives and injured countless others. Batton covered the course in 3:33.28 w hich was her second fastest personal time for a marathon on the hilly, grueling course. She quali ed for Boston by a strong nish in the Palm Beach marathon in December, 2012. She has run in the Palm Beach marathon for four years. She quali ed to run in Boston last year but was injured and couldn’t compete. Runners qualify based on time and age division. Runners apply to run in the race in September and are noti ed if they qualify at a later date. Batton is a graduate of the University of Central Florida. She took up running recreationally and slowly got better and got more interest in the sport. She ran in various 5 K runs which included the Lake Okeechobee 7 mile run in Port Mayaca, and then moved on to marathons. “The Boston Marathon was a dream for me and is the most prestigious race in the w orld. Everyone wants to get in. I can cross that off my bucket list,” she explained. “I w as fortunately able to nish the race and that was a very positive experience for me.” The terrorist attack at the race occurred about one block away from where Batton was standing. She said she heard two loud booms and knew immediately that something was wrong. “The sirens began and they never stopped. We didn’t know what had happened but we knew it was not a good thing,” she said. Slowly information began to come in and then the emotions started to ow and people broke down. Batton did point out the Boston community was great and supportive and that she got a lot of support once she returned to Florida. “There was an outpouring of love and support not only from family and friends, but from the community, and my workplace. It was really very touching and very overwhelming. Even in the midst of all that, I was alone for quite a while, as I walked down the street, so many people were nice, and positive, and tried to help me,” she added. Batton was left with questions as there was so much uncertainty at the event. She was told by her son via a phone call that two bombs had gone off and the devastation that followed. “I was waiting for friends and all the families were meeting the runners there, and we heard the two booms, and then didn’t hear anything of cially,” she added. Slowly people started to get information and many came to the tent to ask questions trying to nd loved ones. Once the tears started to ow it became a very emotional time for all the runners. “I know if I was injured or not able to nish the race it would have been really hard to describe. It was such a happy event, a positive thing, and then you have these tragic events. You have very mixed emotions, all you feel is sorry and empathy for the runners that were harmed or didn’t get to nish,” she stated. Batton graduated from OHS in 1981. Her two sons, Austin and Zachary Willard, participated in OHS sports in recent years -Austin in basketball and Zachary in football. TAMPA—Doctors from BluePearl Veterinary Partners specialty and emergency hospitals are encouraging people to also remember their pets when considering poison precautions. “While many precautions are taken to prevent humans from being exposed to poisons, it is equally important to remember to take precautions for pets,” said Dr. Juliet Gladden, a resident in veterinary emergency and critical care medicine at BluePearl in Tampa. “A good way to do this is to know what types of items can be toxic to pets.” According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the top 10 pet toxins of 2012 were: 1. Prescription human medications; 2. Insecticides; 3. Over-the-counter human medications; 4. Veterinary products and medications; 5. Household products; 6. People food; 7. Chocolate; 8. Plants; 9. Rodenticides; 10. Lawn and garden products. Additionally, garlic, grapes, macadamia nuts, onions, raisins, the sugar substitute xylitol, and raw or undercooked food can create major problems for pets. While rodenticides may not be intended for pets, they are designed to attract animals. Should pets encounter these indiscriminate poisons, the condition is life-threatening and the pet must be treated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Antifreeze is another toxic substance pets are often attracted to. If ingested, pets can almost certainly die if the condition is left untreated. If a pet does ingest something that ma y be toxic, make sure to bring the label or packaging of the substance with you to your veterinarian. For example, there are two different types of rodenticides with two different forms of treatment. It’s important for veterinarians to know what substance the y are treating for. “Most importantly, if you believe your pet has gotten into something that may be poisonous, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinarian immediately,” said Dr. Gladden. “Time can ultimately be the difference between life and death.” Poison prevention means keep out of reach for pets too 22 Okeechobee News April 19, 2013 ACROSS 1 Word after boom or Bean 5 Dickenss Uriah 9 *Jake LaMotta, e.g. 14 Aleve target 15 Fall birthstone 16 All systems __Ž 17 *Mexican neighbor of New Mexico 19 Feature of butteŽ but not butŽ 20 Like lava flows 21 Austin-to-Dallas dir. 23 British golfer Poulter 24 *Skiers patron 28 NYC hub 31 Tolerate 32 2008-09 Japanese prime minister Taro __ 33 Sans serif typeface 35 Expansive 37 Ye __ Tea Shoppe 41 *Like Hammetts falcon 43 *Piece of advice 45 Information storage unit 46 Choice word 48 __-wip: dessert topping 49 Bear: Sp. 51 Brand for a 58Down 53 Follow-up film: Abbr. 54 *Labrador was added to its provincial name in 2001 59 Pie __ mode 60 Suffix for glob 61 Home builders subcontractor 65 Get started 67 *Beijing dialect 70 Upright 71 Theyre __ again!Ž 72 Desert tableland 73 Greetings from the answers to starred clues 74 Lords partner 75 Tiny power source DOWN 1 Filled tortilla 2 Cuatro times dos 3 Ace 4 Classic grape sodas 5 Phillys signature sandwich 6 N.T. book after Galatians 7 Seine contents 8 Backup strategy 9 Agricultural cubists? 10 Yellow metal, in Mexico 11 Seat of Greene County, Ohio 12 Samantha of Doctor DolittleŽ 13 Set of drinks for the table 18 Lacking capacity 22 Cool!Ž 25 Umbilical terminus 26 __ la la 27 Not a soul 28 Doorframe part 29 Start to unravel 30 Scots skirt 34 Dined on, biblically 36 Witchs incantation 38 Old Ford models 39 __ DinahŽ: 1958 Frankie Avalon hit 40 La Salle of ERŽ 42 Asian Olympics city of 1988 44 Like some patches 47 Blue 50 Squeaks and creaks 52 Equivalence 54 Big wheel 55 2010 Supreme Court appointee Kagan 56 Staked amount 57 Himalayan country 58 Steadfast belief (and parent ofeach answer to a starred clue?) 62 Acres 43,560 square units 63 Bygone U.S. gas 64 500 sheets 66 Octopuss defense 68 Inbound flight posting at 28Across 69 Joke around with By Kevin Christian ( c ) 2011 Tribune Media Services Inc. 07/05/11 07/05/11 ANSWER TO PREVIOUS PUZZLE: Edited by Rich Norris and Joyce Nichols Lewis xwordeditor@aol.com Crossword Puzzle The following individuals were arrested on felony or driving under the in uence (DUI) charges by the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Of ce (OCSO), the Okeechobee City Police Department (OCPD), the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) or the Department of Corrections (DOC). Samantha Jean Rubino, 26, N.E.
