APOLLO 16 CARRIES NAVY CAMERA i
. _, '( When Apollo 16 blasted off for the moon April 16,it carried a special gold-plated camera developed k e try ,
by the Naval Research Laboratory.NRL scientists say the camera,with its electronic telescope,will x
give man his first moon-based space observatory.

The camera, officially called the Lunar Surface Ultra-Violet CameraSpectrograph, will gather jL't
information about the earth, its solar system and its celestial neighbors that was never available to

Astronauts John Young and Charles,Duke set the camera in the shadow of their Lunar Landing
Ir f Module during their first lunar excursion.Near the end of their stay on the moon, they removed the {
film from the camera and took it onboard the module for return to earth. _

Service personnel flying at reduced rates on commercial airlines can travel in civilian clothes.The YK
new policy, set down in a recent Civil Aeronautics Board ruling, affects all personnel on leave or c
' liberty and applies to all domestic U.S. airlines.involved in interstate commerce. Most airlines of ,
