Jax A new concept in managerial training whose
time has come is being unveiled this week at NAS Jax in
the form of a Managerial and Supervisory Skills I
Training Course for Chief Petty Officers. : ;
On Monday, 20 local Master Chief Petty Officers
began participating in the first five day course that
operates on the premise, "even the best can get better".
The object of the course is to introduce Naval personnel
at the management level to methods which will
enable them to practice fundamental and advanced
management principles, effective communications,
problem solving techniques and skills in personal and
professional growth. '
While the initial effort is designed primarily for the
CPO community, in the near future the curriculum will
be made available to officers and lower rated petty
officers as qualified instructors are identified and rAN
trained. Long range plans call for at least six instructorswho
will conduct two courses each week. i
The idea for the course originated as the brainchild of
three Chief Petty Officers at the Fleet Ballistic Missile
Submarine Training Center in Charleston,S. C. Throughthe
joint efforts of that command and the Fleet Mine
Warfare Training Center in Charleston, COM-

Durand accepted three Grumman S-2 Tracker aircraft
from RAdm. Bernard B. Forbes, Commander Carrier
Group Six.Declared.

mile ferry flight to Lima. There the S-2's will be based

taxed our imagination trying to uncover a recipe that would do justiceto
our column and also compete with the usual holiday delicacies. We
were unsuccessful in selecting a recipe that has universal appeal to
someone who is already staffed with turkey and stuffing. So. we
present for our final recipe.of the year cookies that you munch on
while recovering. from the feast.
