I VP-49 tops 95,000 accident-free hours .

--
Jax-VP-49, commanded by Cdr. Victor S. Gulliver,
., .. achieved another safety milestone Oct. 29 by reaching

95,000 accident-free hours. .
w Lt Wally Lunde, the Patrol Plane Commander, set
the P-3C down at 1:50: p.m., culminating twelve and one-

half years of accident-free flying.
w This safety achievement began in March 1962 when
the'Woodpeckers"were flying the P-5M"Marlin" while
homeported in Bermuda. Over the years, the squadronhas
r transitioned to the P-3A and P-3C while main-

j. i4.fir taining the highest of safety standards.
VP-49 celebrated the achievement immediately after

the flight with Capt. A.P. Lesperance, COMPATWING
11; Capt. R.N. Burris, CSO of PATWING 11; and Cdr.
G.W. McDonald, VP-49 XO, on hand to congratulate the

crewmembers.LCdrs. .
Ed Barrow, Doug Rollins and Don Klein,
present and past "49 er" Aviation Safety Officers, also
attended the celebration.
