T a These were just a few of the reactions by the 28 people from the
Naval Regional Medical Center that went skydiving for the first time

last weekend.
The intrepid adventures Included doctors, nurses, corpsmen and
corpswaves from the hospital and dispensaries who are trying to form
the first skydiving club at NAS Jax.
They met on Easter Sunday and traveled to the Palatka Para Centerto
jump for the first time.They took their training in the morning,but
tk yd s wy ..yr, were disappointed when strong ,winds forced cancellation of anyjumps.

k So,the next weekend,most of them went back. This time the winds
were favorable and the sun was shining brightly.

Then comes the hour of truth.
After buying your ticket and suiting up, one of the qualified jump-
masters carefully checks your reserve chute;'You board the plane and
up you go.Looking.

isn't too bad, but when the pilot opens the door and the wind rushes in,
you can feel the adrenalin pumping at 100 miles a minute LT

You slide cautiously (very cautiously) to the open doorway..
As you stick your feet out, you're surprised at the force of the wind ya
blowing your feet backwards. After forcing your feet .down on the
small footstep, you receive your second command.

A special class for "Expectant Parents" is held at
NRMC. Each session lasts for six weeks and tells you
everything you always wanted to know about babies, but
were afraid to ask. Fumbling fathers participate in all
aspects of caring for baby.
Taught by Red Cross Volunteers who are not only
I mothers themselves, but R.N.'s as well, the course
emphasizes both the physical and psychological aspectsof
pregnancy and parenthood.
National Volunteer Week for 1975 is Aril! 20 to 26. The
"MISSY"SHARP,Coordinator Recreation,serves punch to NRMC patient Duane Staetyel. Red Cross volunteers at NRMC were recognized for
