level and blue collar equivalents, was developed under Y
the Upward Mobility concept to provide an opportunityfor
career advancement to candidates with little or no
technical training.
This is the first time that a substantial number of
employees have been selected simultaneously and
organized as a class under the NAS Jax Upward

The NAS Jax weight room is an "L" shaped area

consisting of stacks of dumbells and barbells, weight i Ai' k L.

lifting benches and machines, mats and a universal
gym. Connected to all of this is a dressing room, sauna, > /,
steam room, showers and a fine indoor heated pool. ,.
For those who wish a conditioning program without .

Jax Each spring and summer we spend several afternoons
crabbing.This gives us exposure to the sun and
salt water in addition to providing us with a supply of
crab meat for making deviled crab and .crab meat
cocktails. Here is our recipe for... CT, ;
Deviled Crab
2 medium onions, chopped 1 teaspoon salt e

In ceremonies held 18 February, Captain W.F. Quarg, Executive Officer N.A.S. Cecil Field
lIl mOllii' presented the coveted Jacksonville Navy Annual Skeet Shooting Championship award to this stations
distinguished marksmen. In a run-away match against the twice defeated N.A.S. Jacksonville team,
Cecil Field's gunners took a commanding first round lead and in a phenomenal display of aerial'
marksmanship, coasted to their easily won victory; The N.A.S. Jacksonville shooters, despite their
; efforts to augment several nationally known "Big Guns", were unable to keep up with the terrific
pace set by Cecil Fields championship team. The team members are, pictured left to right, AOl D.
