officers, oman M. Cole Sr. is retiring from NARF after 43 years of government

: service,thirty-three of them at NARF here, three years at Norfolk, Virginia and
3. seven years in the Navy.
;; It all started back in 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Cole enlisted for four
: years and served aboard a transporter on the West Coast.: .
It ,In 1930-31, Noman was taking flight training at NAS Norfolk, Virginia and NAS
Pensacola when the Depression cut short the completion of his Aviation Pilot
: ; training. He was discharged as a SK2 in Sept..1933.
-: In 1937 he received a civil service appointment at NAS Norfolk and in e, ,
.
;': I December 1940 he was transfered, to NAS Jax. At that time NARF was called I If Is
: \ Assembly and Repair. He was one of ,the original employees in Inspection and f 1
J Survey of the ,Supply division, now called NARF's Quality Reliability and
.. Assurance, Division. j
During World War II, theAssemblyand Repair operation was on a larger scale w 1 9 9r.
than during the Vietnam conflict and today. The civilian employees out- Y t 9i\
