The new benefit, approved recently by the Department of Defense, is extended to all Reservistsand

Guardsmen during their actual day of training. .'

In, addition to,their red identification card, Reservists must produce a statement from their unit's S'k: :

commanding officer which states which day or weekend they are drilling. .
.: .In the past,Reserve members were allowed limited purchase power,to cover"convenience" items

only. The Exchange privilege for drilling Reservists does not apply to commissaries..

DoD officials say that the move was made as a morale facotr and for recruiting enhancement, i iS

based on the fact that today's Reservists are part of the same team as active duty personnel.
