Residents searching for enter-
tainment over the next few week-
ends woh't have to look very far.
The Graceville Harvest Day
Festival will be held hid Saturday,
Oct. 17, on the Factory Stores of
America. grounds. Entry is free,
and a 10 a.m. parade in down-
town Oraceville Will be an early
highlight of the day.
The festival includes: the
Harvest Day Car Show, arts and
craft booths, food booths and
activities for the kids.
Entertainment' includes the Ivey
Brothers, Shane Owens and
mode. Padgett, who is coor-
dinating booths at the event, said
it is shaping up to be a big one.
"I'm yery excited," she said.
"There are over 50 vendors, .and
they'll be set up at 8 a.m., so you

She said vendors are coming
from all over, including
Monticello to the east) Citrus.

"They've got everything from

got everything from cotton candy
to barbecue, anything you want,"

lic can lead them to the thief who
broke into newspaper machines
outside the Big Little Store at the
corner of Lafayette Street and
Penn Avenue. A suspect was
caisght on videotape elirly

he broke into the machines to
steal the coins in the cash boxes.

Sheriff's Office.
. According to the release, home
owner Sharon Lorraine Bouton,
51, is charged with manufactur-
ing methamphetamine, posses-
sion of listed chemicals and pos-
session of drug paraphernalia.
The lab found-in her home at
2329 Radcliff Circle "was opera--
tional for both the shake and bake
and red, phosphorous methods,"
according to the release.
Haddock credued the Bay
County, Sheriff's Office with
assisting in the case.

annual pumpkin decorating contest again this year,
with prizes for the winners at both the Graceville
and the Mariantia branches.
It's open to all ages from 12th grade on down to

Florida ranks third in the nation in
the number of new breast cancer
cases per year and third in mortality
due to breast cancer. Of all diagnosed
cases of breast cancer, 75 percent are
among women 50 years or older.
Since 1940, breast cancer has been on
the rise. An estimated -212,920 new
cases of invasive breast cancer are
expected to occur among women in
. the United States in 2006. An esti-
mated 40,970 women will die from
breast cancer. It is also estimated that
1,720 menwill be diagnosed, and 460
will die of breast cancer.

Saturday, Oct. 17 as their "Tough
Enough to Wear Pink Show." For
everyone who wears pink, they will
receive a ticket for the opportunity to
win some terrific prizes. Additional
tickets may be purchased at the show,

tators. BBHA will donate 75 percent
of show proceeds and all ticket sales
and the sale of Tough Enough to
Wear Pink merchandise to the Sharon
Ewing Walker Breast Health Center
in Tallahassee
Tough Enough to Wear Pink is a
year-long, Western-industry cam-
paign to raise awareness and funds
for breast cancer research. The cam-
paign was founded by Terry
Wheatley, a breast cancer survivor,
and Wratigler's special events direc-
tor, Karl Stressman, during the 2004

On Oct. 17, the Big Bend
Florseman's Association will partici-
pate in the Tough Enough to Wear
Pink campaign to raise money to sup-
port the fight against breast cancer.
BBHA has teamed with the
Tallahassee Memorial Hospital
Foundation and the Sharon Ewmg
Walker Breast Health Center to pro-
mote this event. Together they hope
to give a positive message to help
kick off Breast Cancer Awareness
Month for October. The concept of
tough cowboys wearing pink might
sound funny, but it is what makes this
campaign so special.
The BBHA was inspired to be a
part of Tough Enough to Wear Piilk

At St. Luke's Episcopal
Church in Marianna, the
Annual Blessing of the
Animals was held at 4 p.m.
on Sunday, Oct..4, in honor
of St. Francis of Assisi.
St. Francis is known as
the Patron Saint of animals,
the environment, and of
Italy. Perhaps you did not
know that it is custom a
ceremony honoring all ani-
mals around Oct. 4 each
year in some Christian
churches. And, maybe you
have notice at many stat-
ues of St. Francis show him
with birds or animals,
depicting him as an ever
lover of all animals.
The Rev. Norman H.
Bray, pastor at St. Luke's,
held the annual blessing of
our pets on the front steps
of the church. Members and
their pets honored St.
Francis and thanked God
for the blessing that these

involving approximately 100 quilts
will be held in the Stokes Activity
Barn. Several antique quilts will be
on display. Adelle Kuszmaul of
Graceville helped organize the
quilt event and will compete and
display in it as well.
Marianna resident Nancy
McMullin, representing the
Jackson Colinty Quilters Guild, is
volunteering, displaying an antique
quilt and possibly one of the local
Guild's challenge quilt.
The festival. includes several
other events. Park staff and volun-
teers will harvest peanuts using
mules and vintage farm equipment.
Exhibitors from across the
Southeast will display their
restored antique tractors, engines
and farm equipment. The annual
antique tractor pull will be 'held,
with entries limited to pre-1964

tractors. Cane grinding and syrup
making will be featured activities
on the Wiregrass Farmstead.
Syrup, still warm from the kettle,
will be on sale at the event.
Other activities will include
blacksmithing, corn shelling,
woodworking and more.
Volunteers will demonstrate spin-
ning, weaving, cooking on a wood
stove and open hearth, quilting,
soap making and other traditional
household chores. Concessions
will be available. Musical perform-
ances will take place throughout
the day in the gazebo. The Shelley
General Store and Mattin
Drugstore will be open, selling ice
cream, candy and old country
