House burglars nabbed

Two men were arrested on
Wednesday just a few streets down
from the house they allegedly bur-
glarized twice in one week.
According to Marianna Police
Chief Hayes Baggett, the house at
4573 South St. was burglarized on
Sunday and a MPD officer had

returned to the house Wednesday
afternoon to check up on it.
While there, the officer apparently
obsered that the house had again
been burglarized, said Baggett.
At about the same ume. a traffic
stop was performed on a vehicle on
Pearl Street, and law enforcement
learned that the driver apparently
held a warrant, said Baggett.
It was discovered during the traf-

fic stop that the two men, who had
not been named beforepress time,
were allegedly involved in both of
the burglaries at the house on South

When facing health issues and the doctor
orders a specific diet to follow, some people are
left wondering "What's left on the menu?"
Virginia and Costalo Back were wondering
just that, after Costalo was diagnosed with a
combination of diabetes, heart problems, high
cholesterol and high blood pressure.
"With his health problems, each doctor and
dietician told him what he could and couldn't
eat, but those diets would conflict with each
other," said Virginia Back.
Virginia said she began to seek out diet
guidelines that. would cover all the dietary
requirements her husband faced. Over about
three years, her search turned into the develop-

kinds of information together for myself and it
kept growing and growing. Other people had
said they had these problems too and thought
there was a need for this kind of cookbook."

entrees, salads, deserts and more.

Chipola College Theatre

to hold auditions for

'Bus Stop' Sept. 9-10

Chipola College Theatre will hold open auditions for "Bus
Stop," Sept. 9 and 10, at 6 p.m.
"Bus Stop" is set in a howling snowstorm with a busload of
weary travelers holed up at a roadside diner. A nightclub
singer named Cherie (played by Marilyn Monroe in the
movie adaptation) has been kidnapped by a young cowboy
who is ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her,
kicking and screaming, down the aisle. As a counterpoint to
the romance, the cafe owner and the bus driver at last find
time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle age schol-
ar comes to terms with himself; and a young waitress also
gets her first taste of romance. "Bus Stop," runs Nov. 6-9 in
the Chipola Theatre.
Chipola will present the hit musical, "Back to the 80's,"
March 18-22, 2009. Auditions are set for Jan. 12 and 13.
From the era that brought the world The Rubik's Cube, Max
Headroom and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes this
"totally awesome" musical. Join the graduating class of
William Ocean High School as they live through their final
senior year as they experience the fun, the heartbreak, the
loves and the loneliness of growing up ... all set to the biggest
hits of the 80's!
The children's show "Beanie and the Bamboozling Book
Machine," is set for May 14, 2009. Auditions are March 23,
Beanie, a science, wiz who is not keen on reading, has
designed a book reading machine for the science fair. Part
computer, part video camera, Beanie's contraption enables it
to read three books at once. Sadly, the machine is neither
user- friendly nor bug free. When Beanie turns it on, out pop
the witches from Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and the
Wizard of Oz. Beanie must get them back into the books with
help from the good guys. Afterward, he is eager to read the
old fashioned way.

fering more than one health problem.'
Also, if a healthy person wants to eat
good and avoid health problems, this
would be a good book to use."
Her husband Costalo is her unoffi-
cial taste tester, having eaten most of
the book's recipes.
"She's been cooking for me for the
last 52 years. For the last five or six
years she's been using the recipes from
the book. Now, my cholesterol is nor-
mal, blood pressure is normal and my
diabetes is under control," said Costalo
Costalo said there is no such thing as
meal boredom in the Back home.
"Some houses, you have a lot of rep-

petition, the sam8 meals all the time.
Maybe something like Meatloaf
Tuesday and Leftover Fridays. But
there's a lot of variety and good tasting
food in this book so a healthy diet can
be followed easily," said Costalo Back.
"So there's actually a lot still left on
the menu for those with health prob-
lems and special diet needs," said
Virginia Back.
Of course, said Back, a healthy diet
is not to substitute any doctor's orders
or required medications.
"Eating right should be paired with
any necessary medicine and comply
with what your doctor says," said
Virginia Back.

So what's Back's trick to eating
"The two main keys are eat fresh and
use a lot of spices and herbs," said
Virginia Back. "If you have to use
frozen vegetables or fruits, try getting
vegetables with no sodium added or
fruits with no additives."
Back said there are two key ingredi-
ents to most of her recipes: "Use a
soup base instead of a bullion or beef
broth," said Back.
She said Vigo soup bases offered
ham, beef and chicken flavored bases
that are much lower in sodium than
most billions.
Also, a boxed tomato product by

Continued From Page 1A
Pomi offers 10 milligrams of sodium,
she said, which is much lower that the
240 milligrams of sodium offered in a
can of processed tomatoes.
"Use some of this -knowledge and
you can adapt most recipes into much
healthier ones," said Back.
Back believes a lot of people can
benefit from her cookbook.
"I don't think you'll find another one
like it on the market," said Back.
Those interested in learning more
about the book of meeting Back may
visit Chipola Rover Book and Tea in
downtown Marianna on Oct. 4., where
Back will be signing copies of the
cookbook from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bosse It s

Will work as
athletic trainer
at Chipola
After a standout senior year as a
starter for the Marianna High
School Bulldogs soccer team,

Dustin Bosse has hung up his cleats
to pursue his education. Bosse also
played baseball through his junior
year. As a senior, he scored 18
goals with 12 assists.
Bosse is now devoting all his time
to working towards a degree in
sports medicine.
In choosing this, he took advan-
tage of an opportunity offered
through Chipola College. After
being dual enrolled at Chipola
while in high school, Bosse lacks
just one year to complete his AA

While completing his final year,
he will have the opportunity for
hands-on experience working with
the Chipola Athletic Program as a,
sports trainer. The hands-on experi-
ence is something Bosse feels will
aid him not only now but also later
in his pursuit of a career in sports
medicine. Bosse has not made a
final decision on his next step but
feels he's narrowed it down to Troy
or the University of Florida. Bosse
is quick to praise UF's program,
"It's probably the best program in
the country." Bosse had looked at

different colleges initially with the
thought of pursuing soccer at 'the
next level prior to deciding on the
program at Chipola. Bosse said the
decision to not to continue soccer
didn't come easy but felt this was
the best avenue for him to take at
this point.
Dustin is the" son of Dr. Doyle and
Judy Bosse and has a brother Jeff,
sisters Kelsey and Mallory. Jeff
played baseball at Chipola, Kelsey
will graduate from Marianna this
year and Mallory is in 7th grade at
Marianna Middle School.
