PALATKA, PL., June 26.--(8p*ecal*
--ollowing Is the verdict In the Kel-
ley-Davidson murder case:
"We. the jury. And defendants.
James M. Kelley and D. M. David-
son, guilty of murder In the first
degree, aad recommend them to
the mercy of the court Thomas
Murray. foreman."
The above verdict was rendered a
few minutes before 11 o'clock this
morning in the case of Kelley and
Davidson, charged with the murder
of Night Watchman W. C. Sellars of
the Atlantic Coast lUne at High
Springs three years ago. The Jury
worked on the case until after 2
o'clock this morning, and retired
worn out. They reported that a ver-
dict had been reached at 10 o'clock.
but the court sent them back to the
room on account of the verdict not
Wing properly made out. as. no de-
gree was mentioned.
The court room as crowded early
by I'wraons anxious to hear the 'er-
dict. The primouerb took the verdictt
calmly, Davidonu's daughter being tL
his side when It waz ailnnlouulced.
Court adjourned after receiving the

verdict until 2 o'clock today, when
motion will be made for a new trial.
This motion will of course be denied.
when an appeal will be taken to
the Supreme Court.

PALATKA. June 26.-7:30 p. m.-
Special I -Court reconvened at 5
o clock this afternoon, when motion
for a new trial in the Kelley and
Davidson case was denied. A writ of
error was fled and an appeal will be
taken to the Supreme Court. The
prisoners were sentenced to life im-
risonument at hard labor.
When the men were asked what
they had to say why sentence should
not be passed upon them, Kelley said:
"I accept the %erdlct of the jury. but
so far as D. M. Davidson is concern
ed. he is as innocent of any connec-
tioni with this crime as any man
within the hearing of my voice."
The prisoners accepted the sentence
as calmly as they received the ver-
