A force of workmen have been en-
gaged for the pat two days in level-
Ing off and repairig West Main street

the City Council at its last meeting,

West Main street is one of the
city's principal thoroughfares, but the
street has been sadly neglected on
account of the Atlantic Coast Une
railroad traversing It. with the result
that it became In such miserable con-
dition that it has been impossible for
teams to use the saine.
An effort has been made several
times to Induce the railroad to lower
its tracks to the proper level and re-
pair the street. but so far it has been
of no avail.
