Electra People* Plead Gullty to Ag-
gravated AseaUlt and Sentenced.
After a session lasting two Wseks,
the fall term of the Circuit Court ad-
journed Saturday morning.
There was only one cae reauining
on the criminal docket to be disaold
of Friday night, being the cam. ,t
the State vs. Electra Peeples, a ie-
gro woman of Wilcox. charged with
assault with intent to murder. The
case was called immediately upon the
corvening of the court Saturday
morning, the defendant being arraixn-
ed and pleading guilty of aggravated
assault, which plea the court accept-
ed, and the woman was iutenced to
pay a fine of $25 and osts, Ia default
of which she must spend these months
4. the county Jail.
Judge Wills and other court offi-
cials are to be congratulated upon
finishing the work In so short a time,
as there was a heavy docket, and the
majority of cases were disposed of by
process of arrafgnment and trial.
Among the criminal cases diaposed
of were three murders, all the de-
fendants being negroes. Two of the
prisoners plead guilty to murder in
the second degree, and each Vas sen-
tenced to life imprisonment. The
third defendant, Jim Lundy. went to
trial, and the verdict of the Jury was
murder in the third degree, when
Lundy was sentenced to two years
In State prison at hard labor.
