day night the people of ligh Springs
were-accorded the great pleasure of
hearing Dr. W. F. Yccum, of the State
University, deliver a lecture In the
auditorium of the school building. His
Fubje~t was 'The Man in the Moon,"
aud he haiuiled it in an interesting
and scholarly manner. It is the earn-
est desire of many of our towns-people
to have him repeat It at an early date.
On Thursday afternoon Mrs. P. P.
Wood entertained the New Century
Club. After the study for the day
had been finished a social program
ensued, which was much enjoyed. The
music rendered by Mrs. H. McL. ready
and Mrs. H. J. Petermai added great-
ly to the pleasure of the occasion.
1'he alphabet game was played qnd
Mrs. 0. 3. Ortmling won the first
price. Those present were Mrs. E.
Blacushear, Mrs. 0. E. Gramling, Mrs.
H. J. Peterman, Mrs. Jas. Collar, Mrs.
H. McL. GfOdy. Mrs. H. C. Stevens,
Mrs. Annie Bewell, Mrs. A. J. Moore,
Mrs. Gordon Hunter, Mrs. Harry
McDonald, Miss Muriel Futch, Miss
Annie Lou Hodges, Mrs. Jas. Paul,
Mrs. R. B. Bush, Mrs. M. D. Morrison,
Mrs. J. II. galls, Mrs. Cor Pedrick.
On Tuesday Mr. H. C. Stevens and
family moved to Lakeland. Much re-
gret is expressed' at their departure,
but their many friends wish them ut-
bounded success in their new home.
Little Ruth, Ifant daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Ooo. Reynolds, died on the
26th and was buried on the 26th of
January. Much sympathy is felt for
the bereaved family.
On Sunday night the fire alarm was
sounded, and it was discovered that
the oil house at the A. C. L. aops
was In flames. It was caused by an
overturned lantern. Mr. Rob. McDon.
aid had his face and hands badly
burned in trying to extinguish the
fames.
Mrs. 0. E. Oramling entertained the
club ladies ret titly In a most charm-
ing manner. Those who enjoyed her
